Ry in Wonderland

After my first whole half-week of classes, I feel odd. These past few days have been some of the most surreal of my life. My first class, Japanese, was on Wednesday afternoon, and I decided to walk because I wasn't sure what the parking situation would be like. My walk took basically the same route that I always took to Japanese class back in my ( Read more... )

ry, i wish i could have been in that classroom with you... if only just to plop my floppy forearm across the top of the desk. its good to hear that arizumi is still the same and i'm sure that there will be some fun folks in class with you. i talked with kawano sensei recently and she is teaching in vermont for the summer. did i ever tell you about the time i visited her apartment on her birthday... she actually didn't tell me it was her birthday until about 10 minutes before i was leaving... strange. anyways i'm sure tuscaloosa can use some change and it will be a good fun challenge for you to reinvent a familiar place. i can't say for sure. but don't be suprised if you feel someone following you around campus... its probably just some old memories. or charles.

Michael, if only you and your floppy forearm had been in Japanese class that day, all in the world would have been made right. It really was a weird day--and it's still weird walking in there and not seeing you and Bryan and Travis. But get this--there's me, a guy named Ry, a guy named Ryan, and another guy named Bryan! Arizumi keeps getting our names confused. It's kRAzy kAt!

I'm glad to hear Kawano sensei's doing alright. I think that Vermont gig is getting to be a routine thing for her now; I think she did it a couple of years ago, too. You know, I don't think you ever told me about going to her apartment and it being her birthday...strange. I need to email that lady some time soon. Speaking of her birthday, I just realized I don't know how old she is.

Yeah, I think it'll be fun trying to reinvent this crazy place--but I hope some of those old memories can catch up to me some day. Charles, on the other hand...well...I wouldn't mind if he caught up with me, too. It'd be nice to see a familiar face.
