Let me show you my pokemans

So, blogging. I guess this counts as a blog, though I'm not clear on the difference between an online journal and a blog. In my head a journal is more of a personal thing, where you write about your potentially boring day-to-day stuff and fangirl over things, whereas a blog is for your specialized knowledge, like politics or fashion or cooking ( Read more... )

Go for it!

I consider my blog a "blog" even though its basically a personal journal haha. I guess I think of "online journal" as more of an early to mid-2000s term, while "blog" seems to just be what everyone calls any kind of online writing nowadays.

You could even use it as something that you could potentially put on your resume (sort of like a "portfolio" but not really)...like if you were applying to a publishing company, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a website they could go to where they could see your knowledge of books and/or writing style. I'd suggest hosting it on blogspot though, since that's the most widely accepted blog host these days it seems...or I could host it haha. I'm afraid I won't be much help in the name department, though. I mean the name of my beauty blog (AdoraBeauty) is literally a 3 letter difference from my regular blog...that's the extent of my naming creativity. =p

I was thinking of your blog while writing this, haha. Yours is more of an actual blog since you mostly built up the site yourself. Livejournal pretty much is a mid-2000's thing, lol. Your beauty blog is what I thinking of in terms of blogs that review stuff.

The portfolio/resume stuff is spot on too. Several places have asked people to include their website or blog in the application, and others want writing samples. Some have also asked for Facebook links, so I got a Facebook but I don't know what to do with it :x

"I got a Facebook but I don't know what to do with it"

duh...friend meee haha I'm not sure what they would be looking for on a Facebook page. When you do start your blog up, you can post the links to your posts on the FB page...so that's one thing, but I have no idea what else they'd really be looking for.

Hehe, I guess friending you goes without saying. It's been mostly from authors looking for personal assistants or research assistants so they must want to see applicants on a more personal level ahead of time.
