Still working at that law firm. The usual receptionist broke her foot, so I'll be covering the dreaded phones until she's healed and back at work, possibly up to two weeks. Answering phones isn't as awful as the first time, now that I've gotten used the office and the way things run. Everyone's very nice, even when they're telling me I'm doing it ( Read more... )

Soooo, how is a foot injury keeping her from answering the phones? :D Seems like the ideal place to park it and put a foot up on the desk. But if it means they can keep you busy longer, terrific! I broke a foot once. Definitely sucks.

I read Sunshine, by the way. I found it to be a little too convenient here and there that she kept gaining/discovering new powers, but overall quite a page-turner! and you can't help but be utterly intrigued by Con.

Ikr? The main thing is she's not sure she'll be able to drive for a while, plus the stairs into the building would be tricky. The job's doable, it's just getting there that's the problem! She broke it just this past Friday, so everyone's still gauging how things are going to go.

Ah yeah, her powers. One of the things I liked about the book was seeing all the normal, average people trying to get on amidst so much supernatural stuff, and it did feel very convenient that the one person thrown into the vampire adventure was the one person with powers that perfectly suit it. But it's so important to the plot that you've just got to accept that The Main Character Is Special and move on if you're gonna enjoy it. I did like that powers were revealed gradually through the book, though.

Oh yeah! That was definitely a cool AU. I want to work for the SOF. And yes of course, if nothing happened to her there would be no story. In their world, many people have powers and abilities, so as someone who's suppressed them her whole life, perhaps hers were bound to explode extra suddenly and widely as a result!
