Today is the last day we will be able to cook in the grammer school my son attends. Why? Because the government feel it is unsafe. I have yet to hear what they will do with Home Ec classes in highschool. It is also the last week that parents can bring in homemade goodies for birthdays or any type of celebration or function. So this isn't just your district then? I haven't heard anything about this yet in the EGUSD.
One of the fun things the kids did back in 1st was to back stone soup (the teacher was reading the story to the class). The made butter, cut up veggies... the kids loved it! How in the world can it be unsafe?!

And the CA law was pretty specific that "no unhealthy food should be SOLD", and it was ambiguous about what "served" food is.
But that didn't stop the San Juan School District from interpreting the law the most strict possible way - that no non-sanitation-certified, non-"healthy" food could be served by or at the school, even if its from parents offering home made food.
