I am now 38. Yeah baby!
I've had a wonderful week so far starting on Saturday thanks to John, my hot hubby! We both went for massages together, and one of my surprises was a massage every month for a year! We both had great practitioners! They both had just the right pressure for each of us. Then we shopped a bit and headed home to get ready for dinner. My mom was watching the boys at our house. :D I had my favorite at Slocum House, the soup, which was cream of carrot ( I know, sounds weird, but they do soups SO well), the fillet mignon with a glass of merlot, and then the best creme brulee on the west coast I think. My sister thinks so too. lol Dinner there is so nice, especially when you have one of the cozy rooms almost to yourselves. There is just something to be said for this restaurant when it comes to service too. I'm not a high class restaurant fan most of the time, but there are a few good ones here and Slocum House has service, ambiance, as well as plenty of food to fill even the largest appetites (without an appetizer and desert even, but ya have to have desert there - they are all yummy). We've been there several times over the last 17 years, and I have yet to have a problem with my meal or anything else. After dinner, we walked the beautifully lit grounds of the restaurant and did some kissin' in the corner(blush). It was just so beautiful out there and so nice and warm. Just not something that happens with the weather in February. From there we drove a little bit and sat in the car and talked for awhile. It reminded me of the days prior to kids and marriage where we'd sit in his car and talk until the sun started to come up or the rain stopped. Thankfully we have a wonderful family that loves to babysit, so we get to get out together alone a few times a month. It was just kinda extra special since it was my birthday, and it just made me remember the birthdays prior to our own family starting. From there we went car shopping. Not for a car for my birthday or anything like that. Cars should never be birthday presents. It's like getting a vacuum cleaner for a birthday in my opinion. We just need to start looking. I always start my research about 2 years before we actually buy. It may be sooner than that though, so I asked John if we could take the opportunity and go look. There wasn't really any movie we wanted to see or a play, so we thought why not. Instead of narrowing my research though, I fear I have increased the choices by 2 more. Ugh...oh well, at least I know my research was accurate. I don't think the sales person liked me knowing more than him. He finally just shut up and walked around with us listening to me explain the cars and what not. LOL I'm an old high school auto shop gal, so I know what to look for and what to watch out for.
We stopped by A-1 comics on the way home. I guess some child spilled gatorade near the manga isle and wetted down a few of them in it. There was a bit of language spoken by the red head that works there and the mother of the pre-teens. We were looking in the Magic case at cards that we have from the alpha and beta additions that they have priced really high. I can't believe anyone would ever pay $100-250 for a card; one card!!! Anyway, we talked some more on the way home about a ton of stuff. When we got home, I got my next surprise! At this point, I'm just going to say TMI - sorry. :P
Monday, my friend Tracy that I sew with, threw me a little mini party with her youngest daughter and her friends. They made brownies, chocolate cake, and angel food cake with berries! She said they all just felt like baking! LOL
Today, the 12th, my actual birthday, the weather was more perfect than when it's Spring here. I got cards and online cards and wishes from close friends that I love and are near and dear to me. I got flowers from my good friend, Lenora. My eldest son, Michael gave me a camellia, and 20 of his cute little 1st grader friends sang be happy birthday in 3 different languages. My 1 year old (as of Feb 4th) gave me a kiss and a hug in the morning. I got a sewing book from John's aunt Thea, and money from his mom. Tonight my boys took me to Spaghetti Factory (great place for a family with little children), and I got my present when we got home, new earrings. I'd been wanting them for awhile now. It was yet another great day! This Friday, I get to celebrate my b-day with my aunt and cousins and then Saturday, I get to celebrate my birthday with my mom and sister. I love the week long celebration!!!
We'll be celebrating Valentine's Day as a family in just a couple days. Michael is really excited. There's a big party at school, and then he said he is taking us out to dinner. He said it's a surprise, and he'll tell me when I have to drive there. LOL Michael told me today that v-day is for celebrating with the ones you love, and that's why we have to celebrate together as a family he said. 7 year olds are so sweet!
I just love February!!! It's my favorite next to October, December, and January.
