Watching David Cameron over these past few years, in a way, has helped clarify my own political position. One cannot watch someone political career progress, and not wonder about their own ideology, particularly when one finds themselves agreeing occasionally with the enemy ( Read more... )

I agree and disagree with you. I want gay marriage and adoption fully legalised. I want stemcell research and cloning to be properly funded. I want civil liberties to mean something again and I want people to be seen for what they can do not what they are. This, I have been told makes me a Liberal Conservative ( ... )

I suppose my point really is that there are still a lot of Tory MPs uncomfortable with gay rights, which is the biggie, like for example Theresa May, but unless the party can move beyond that, we're not going to survive. I don't see politics shifting back to the way it was during the 1980s, even IF we achieve a Conservative majority in 2015 *crosses fingers*. David and George started this process, but it's going to be up to us to continue it, to combat the left, supposedly progressive parties. It'll be the new generation, the MPs of 2020, 2025 and 2030 that will be able to get beyond those labels entirely, of Thatcherite and Liberal.

WORD! I completely get what your saying. Of course by 2020 there could be Osbornites ;)

I would like to see cannabis and prostitution made legal. Sometime I wonder if I'm more of a Libertarian than a Conservative but I can't be bothered to work it out lol!
