I have gained most of my running attire (which I am now either too big for or don't use) from entering events. I've gained at least 2 moisture wicking t-shirts that way, one long sleeve and one short sleeve. These were from doing Nike 10K events. I would get the minimum you need and just wash lots to start with. I think I have two pairs of running shorts (again now too small) and one pair of running tights. Most important thing is the footwear! Make sure your trainers are the right size and support your feet correctly for your running style. Double socks are good too for helping to reduce blisters.

If I can find some spare dollars I will sponsor you, I'm just pretty strapped at the moment!
