It felt to Tosh like she was coasting. Doing what it took to get through each day, waiting for the next one and the next. So far she'd managed to avoid really talking about things with anyone but Gwen and Ianto. Not even Jack had heard all of it from her. Ray didn't think it was ever going to stop being awkward, but it was a small island and it wasn't like he could avoid the whole thing. It wasn't like he really wanted to.

"I brought food," he announced, because it was easier that way. "You've been out here a while."

"Have I?" Tosh smiled when she saw who it was, pushing away any thoughts of people laughing at her behind her back. Ray wasn't that sort, he was her friend, she reminded herself. Likely a better friend than she deserved, all things considered.

"I keep losing track of time." Jackson burbled something, hearing another voice he recognised. "You've come to share it I hope?"

"If I'm invited," said Ray, pulling the lid off some pasta (that someone else had made, but he didn't need to share that). "Probably easy to lose track of time with the kid, huh?"

Maybe better that way.

The look she gave him was almost confused for a moment, a tilt to her head and a pulling up of her brows. "Of course you're invited. Company is nice."

It made her sound rather pathetic in a way. Tosh, desperate for the company of her friends. Of people to distract her. Likely she was reading too much into it, but she often did. "He keeps me busy, yes." Ghosting her hand over Jackson's stomach, Tosh smiled when he laughed. "It's easier. Spending time with him, or keeping myself busy."
