Ianto was in fact at home, and alone. While Charlie seemed to think that the rain was no reason to go outside and get some exercise, Ianto preferred to use the rain as an excuse to exercise his planning skills and leave the cozy hut as seldom as possible.
He recognized Tosh's voice and jogged to the door, racing Banon in the process. A smile was on his face as he swung open the door. "Tosh. And Jackson! Come in before you get soaked."
"Thank you," she ducked inside, careful to make sure the umbrella didn't get the floor too wet as she closed it. "I hope you don't mind. I thought I'm come by. Remind myself you're still here."
She didn't smile as she said it, not as she normally would, untying the sling to let Jackson down onto the floor. "Watch out. He's crawling now."
Ianto shut the door behind her, frowning at her words but not commenting just yet. Someone had disappeared, and he searched his mind for which of Tosh's friends he hadn't seen recently.
"Not to worry. Banon's a herding dog. She'll watch him." He threw a perfunctory grin in the dog's direction, where she sat calmly observing Jackson, waiting for him to bark or something. Ianto moved to offer Tosh a chair. "How are you?"
"Herded. I'd be offended by that, except he'll likely need it soon. He's already starting to get everywhere he shouldn't." Even now it was simpler to watch Jackson looking about, curious at the new surroundings and rocking on his hands.
"Ray's gone," she said as she sat. "A few days ago. I just found out."
