WITH: Jack finding out something Tosh'd been trying to keep secret.
Tosh poked around her old station, muttering to herself. "How can I work with this, it's so out of date!"
Jack glanced over at Tosh. He hadn't actually had a chance to meet her properly yet, but Captain Harkness had told him a bit about her. "That's what I say to myself all the time," he chuckled. "You'll adjust, I'm sure."
She jumped slightly, then smiled. "Jack, you startled me."
"Sorry," he apologized, returning the smile. "You're Toshiko Sato, right?"
She held her hand out, "Actually, now it's Toshiko Sato Doyle-Harper - but that's a mouthful. Just Tosh is fine." She smiled warmly.
Jack shook her small hand, before blinking a bit. "Harper?" he asked curiously. "As in Owen Harper? You're his wife?"
"And Doyle's. Twenty-seventeen - You've pretty much ruined Torchwood Three for monogamy," she chuckled.
"Go figure," Jack replied, grinning. "I think he said something about Doyle being one of my lovers, too. At least, presently. His present, that is."
"We may have our little married homes, but everyone's allowed love."
Jack's grin widened. "Sounds like I definitely changed things around here for the better, then. 'Course, looks like you lot changed me more than I ever thought possible, so it's only fair."
"You're one of the best things to happen for a lot of us."
"That's good to hear," Jack replied, nodding. "I'd hate to fail another team."
"You've never failed any of your teams, Jack - you aren't a god, even if you've got the lifespan of one - you can't save everyone."
"I know," Jack sighed. "Believe me, I know. So what's your story, hm? How'd you join?" he asked curiously, quickly changing the subject.
"You gave me an ultimatum, actually. I either served my sentence of life in UNIT's gaol, or I came to work for you for five years. Ironically enough, I died a few days before my five years was up - but I loved every minute of it, and I don't regret a moment."
Jack took a few moments to process all that information. "Wait....you died?" he asked quietly.
"I was shot in the line of duty," she admitted.
"Oh. D'you...were you...d'you remember?" he asked, suddenly awkward.
"I was only there a few moments before somehow embedding myself into Owen's computer," she told him. "And... also when I managed to become alive again, though I don't remember the details." She didn't say it was because she'd blocked them as well as she possibly could. Her eyes flickered to full-on black for a moment, before settling back to their warm brown human look once more.
Jack sighed in relief before he blinked, startled at the black eyes. "What was that?"
"Nothing."
Jack crossed his arms. "I don't believe you."
Tosh went back to trying to update the systems.
"...Fine, never mind," Jack sighed, defeated. "I'll let you get back to work."
"I don't know how to explain it."
Jack shrugged. "It's alright. I can just add it to the list of things I don't understand."
"I didn't come back fully human, that's all."
Jack chuckled. "Good thing for you, fully human is optional with me. I'm not fully human myself, but I assume you know that."
"I do, Mr. fifty-first century."
Jack grinned again. "That's me~. Geez, this is still weird."
"People knowing about you?"
"Yeah, that," Jack replied, nodding.
"Nice to know you will have people you can trust one day, though, isn't it?"
"It is, I'll give you that," Jack smiled. "Gives me something to look forward to."
"Good. Everyone needs something to look forward to, sometimes," she leaned over and gave him a kiss, obviously something she was comfortable with, and used to, doing.
Jack was startled again at the kiss, but didn't hesitate to return it happily. "Oh I could definitely get used to the future," he chuckled. "Surrounded by pretty, trustworthy people that all enjoy snogging me."
Tosh chuckled, shaking her head. "You're terrible."
"You know you like it," he replied, winking. "Please tell me there's been at least one orgy."
"Now, that would be Spoilers," she teased back.
Jack rolled his eyes. "It's not spoilers if I don't know who was in it, do I?" he pointed out. "I mean, I already know who a lot of my lovers are going to be."
"Got to leave some surprises for you," she replied.
"Like the fact that you're pregnant?" Jack asked, amused.
Tosh choked, then turned slowly to LOOK at him.
Jack returned the look with a GRIN. "Can't hide from someone else who's been pregnant," he pointed out.
"I should have known. Here I thought that you in my time figured it out before I did because he's pregnant again, too," she huffed.
"He is? ...I am?" Jack asked, blinking. "I...wait...Ianto said I already had a son."
"He probably thought you had enough on your mind," Tosh hedged.
"Probably," Jack agreed, though he was a bit suspicious. "How far along are you?"
"Four months, I'm barely showing - I don't know how you knew," she replied.
"Not all human, remember?" Jack pointed out, winking. "I can just sense things about people sometimes."
"Bloody disturbing, that."
"It is," Jack chuckled. "You should be resting, though."
"I'm pregnant, not an invalid."
Jack laughed. "Should've expected that response. I never meant to imply that you were, gorgeous. I just know how it is."
"Well, right now it's a secret, and I would like it to stay that way, please, Jack."
"Alright," Jack sighed, nodding. "Lips are sealed. If there's anything I can do for you though, please let me know," he offered, ever the gentleman.
Tosh smiled, "Thanks."
