Hm, I meant to update last night, but that never happened, so here I am now. Anyways, I was talking to Seamus yesterday and absinthe came up. After doing a bit of research, we found out that it actually IS legal in Canada and that you can buy it in most liquor stores in BC. However, the stuff here is pretty weak compared to what you buy in Europe. ( Read more... )

Wow, that´s expensive! My 700ml bottle cost about 20 €..

That's insane! Although it might be in part due to the fact that the absinthe is being imported from the Czech Republic. And another really stupid thing is that the absinthe is really weak too. The thujone is only about 1.5ppm when in Europe it can be up to 10ppm...

Wow, those are some pretty cool bottles. The thing about most Czech absinthes is that they usually don't have any anise, so they don't louche when you add water. I know see why it's so expensive to buy in Canada though, the shipping is over 20 Euros! Add another 20 Euros for the cost of the absinthe itself and you're looking at over 50 Canadian dollars! Oh well, I'll just have to go travelling to Europe one day.
