So, my mom rescued a baby sparrow from the Home Depot. I know I know, I'm not supposed to take the bird home but the store has a bird killing policy, and because of the high traffic there is a very small chance that it's parents would have come back for him, if they were even alive. He had a broken leg anyway. I named him/her Jules.

So, I splinted his leg, and I've been feeding him baby bird formula. First he was living in a tissue box, then a dog kennel. Originally I had planned to rehabilitate him and let him go, but I read a lot about sparrows and from what I've learned - they're the dregs of bird society and birds that have been taken in usually have a hard time becoming un-tame.

He's learning to walk now, his leg is healing. He's also starting to use his wings to hop around. I've integrated meal worms into his formula and I'll probably start weaning him off of it next week - and work on feeding him seed, worms and fruits.

Today my mom bought him a brand new cage, a new nest, perches, and fluffy stuff. I never, ever expected her to let me keep a bird in the house.

Right now the cage is lined with fluff because he cannot fly, and needs soft stuff to land on when he practices.. also it makes it easier to clean up his poop for now.

He's kind of dirty, he ate right before I took this picture. Every time I feed him I have to hold him tight in my hand and use my other to wipe the mush off his face. He cooperates for the most part.

And here he is all snuggled in his nest. He likes to sit in here, pop his head out and chirp, then retreat.

I wake up at about 5am to feed him and then continue to feed him every two hours until he goes to sleep, which is around 8pm.

Even though he is very loud and demands food every time I walk in the room.

In other news: English exam tomorrow! Haven't started studying yet! But I will!

Then History exam on thursday, then all I have to worry about for the next couple weeks is taking care of Jules.

Then then then then
PENNSYLVANIA ADVENTUUUUUUUUURE!!!
