I just designed my first invitation set, as well! Are you printing the directions/map on the same paper? Are you gocco-ing it or doing the silkscreen old-school? Where are you getting your paper? I have some ideas about this, obviously.

ooh.. i'm sure yours are much better looking than mine! i'm such an amateur. i'm gocco-ing it! i have no idea where to get the paper so if you have any ideas, i'd really appreciate it! what i'm looking for is price! i have to buy bulk and i've seen paper that's already perforated to 4 x 6 so that would help me a lot because i'm soo linearly-challenged.. even when i'm using a paper cutter! also, another idea that i was thinking about is using glossy photo paper.. but i'm not sure how it will take the gocco ink. i obviously have to try this first.

map/directions: i'm thinking of going to mapquest.. copy the map onto illustrator, vectoring over it for a cleaner look and then pasting it on the page in indesign. what do you think?

I don't know about that. You're quite the stylish lady yourself; I have every faith in you and your skills (and skillz).

If you just want smooth card stock, you might consider Paper Source (www.paper-source.com). They have a wide range of colors and pre-cut sizes. They even give discounts if you buy in bulk. The Luxe line doesn't take to gocco very well, though.

I've also heard fabulous things about the Fabriano Medioevalis cards by girls who gocco, but you'd have to cut them down: http://www.dickblick.com/zz100/32a/products.asp?param=0&ig_id=2211

The map idea sounds good. Luckily, my friend's bro-in-law is an architect, so he's doing the actual map for me. I just can't decide how to lay it out with all the direction & hotel info. (They didn't send out a Save the Date card.)

This is fun talking about it with someone who gets it -- and cares! xoxo
