BACKGROUND:
Shion Kaito was born into a rich family. His parents were busy with their business, and he usually spent his time with his siblings. Due to his siblings being all boys, he was often getting bullied by them. He admitted he wasn't happy to stay with his brothers, and even complained to his parents. However, his parents seemed to ignore him. Kaito shut himself in his room and played with his guitar or listened to his music.
He discovered his ability when he was seven years old. He was playing with a hamster in the classroom. He heard the birds chirping from the outside of the window, and he wished that the hamster could chirp like them. Kaito kept staring at the hamster, and suddenly, the hamster chirped. He returned home immediately after school was over, and he told his father about what happened. His father seemed surprised with his statement, and told Kaito it was his imagination. However, every time Kaito went to the school, this power of his occurred almost everyday until he got used to it.
Five years later, Kaito reached the age of twelve, and he seemed excited about his power. Until one day without notice, he discovered his second ability; he heard his parents' conversation a few meters away from his room. It was supposedly impossible to hear since there were few walls and doors, which absorbed the sound, But he could hear them clearly as he was the part of the conversation. It was revealed that his parents were planning something illegal, and they were going to use their own kids for their business. They also mentioned that all of their kids had mutant powers.
Kaito couldn't just sit down. He knew telling his siblings would be a bad idea. He reached a conclusion that he had no choice. He had to run away from home that night and never keep in touch with Shion family. Since then, he never mentioned his surname to anyone.
Few years have passed and Kaito kept his low profile as he took some jobs, including singing. He was very talented in music, until he was chosen as the part of the Vocaloid group. When he was introduced, his name was stated as 'KAITO' with capitals, unlike the rest of the members who had full names. Kaito's surname never leaked once into the public.
As the group was gaining its popularity, Kaito's personality had changed. Thanks to them, he was more cheerful and adorable than before. Later, it was revealed the whole group had mutant powers and each of them were slowly leaving the group to head to XI. Kaito was clueless in the beginning. He tried to search for information about it, but he only had one lead. It turned out that he, too, needed to stay at XI, for the sake of his safety.
PERSONALITY:
Kaito is not just as the third son in Shion family, but also as the second person who joined VOCALOID after Meiko. He's a caring person and brings joy to everyone. He has a tendency to be a father and big brother figure at the same time, but he's a bit too childish for certain situations. To sum up, he and Miku share almost the same personality.
He's not the smartest person. His IQ couldn't compete with college students, and sometimes his actions lead to mistakes. One reason he tries to make silly of himself, because he likes attention. Due to his actions, he often gets scolded and the others do nothing but watch. Because of this, he has his own funny nickname like, 'Bakaito' or 'Idiot Kaito'. If he has nothing to do, he'll be lazing around with his ice cream.
Besides being lazy and an idiot, he is actually capable of singing and acting. He also has perfect control of his feelings through his songs. But when it comes to romancing, he becomes less talkative and becomes shy for some reason. He also loves to play instruments. Most of all, he plays piano and electric guitar because these intstruments interests him the most.
Kaito is not a good fighter. Well, he's a man, but not manly enough. Although, he's shown he can be protective of someone he holds dear. He can't win a fight against a strong person. This makes him wonder how to be strong despite being a man.
APPEARANCE:
Kaito is an average man in his twenties, quite tall and charming. He's easy to recognize by looking at his appearance, since he looks so blue. His hair, eyes and nails are blue. He also wears a blue muffler all the time and rarely takes it off, even when he goes to bed. Aside from blue, he wears a white long sleeved jacket, which also reaches to his knees, and wears long brown pants. If it's not working hours, he takes off his jacket and only wears a dark blue shirt.
POWERS:
Sound Manipulation and Super hearing senses.
Kaito has the ability to manipulate sound. He can switch the sound of the wind into the sound of the flowing water. If he's bored, he uses this power to humor himself, like making the dog meow. He could even silence a drop, crash or tapping sound that could distract others. However, he's still young and unable to manipulate various strong sounds. He can't handle powerful explosive, or continuous and mixing sounds.
His super hearing senses is his sub ability. It happens when he doesn't alert himself, or he's really focused into it. He can hear talking or whispering about few meters away more than a normal human, and he even can hear through walls without a problem. Although he has an awesome hearing ability, he can't deliver voice to them for warning.
