One thing we do here at totemists is instead of posting stock responses from totem dictionaries about what individual totems "mean", we focus more on comparing notes from our own experiences and understanding that our experiences are subjective. The mods (or members) will make a post inviting people to share their thoughts on a particular totem, either experiences, or what people think the totems might have to teach.

The trick to all this is that we make our replies BEFORE we go to look at what everyone else has to say. This way we're answering from ourselves, rather than being influenced by others' answers, or worrying that we've given the "wrong" answer. It's a good way to see how each of us interacts with a totem, and it also encourages us to rely on our own experiences and relationships with totems, rather than automatically relying on a formulaic dictionary entry.

Here's who we've discussed so far:

Crab
Crow, American
Dragon
Elephant
Mongoose
Rat
Squirrel
Wolf

ETA: I'm having trouble getting this post to pin properly to the top of the community. I have it dated in 2030, but you can't do a "date out of order" with a community post. Any suggestions?

ETA again: I tried to do tags, but I can't tag posts that aren't mine. So we have this post to collect all the community dictionary posts together. I'll link it on the profile as well.
