I've found that the animal spirits I don't have a personal relationship with seem to have less personality than the ones I work with regularly. For all I know, I could be rubbing off on them, or it could be that I only got to see their personalities because I spent the time to build a relationship. In regards to Totems specifically, I'm honestly not sure. I've never truly understood the delineation between Totem and Animal Spirit anyway. Or at least, how to tell the difference between the two. <^.^>

For me, a totem is an archetypal being that embodies everything about a given species, to include all individual animal spirits; that's the difference I've noted, but YMMV.

yes pretty much
Individual "Animal spirit"---Jethro was A wolf---his own person, with a history, likes, dislikes--his spirit/soul did not know much About the wild, though it Was wild, if that makes sense. He taught me a lot, as friends will

"Totem": 'The Wolf' knows(and cares,in a wolfish way) about wolves in Alaska, and Jethro, and even 'wolf spirited' humans.

I’m still a novice at working with totems, but when it comes them they do seem to be more complex but also ‘harder to pen down and place a finger on.’ Since totems are so archetypical, I’ve sometimes likened it sometimes perhaps as almost like a hive mind like mentality given how they are so made-up of the whole of that species in so many ways.

Regular animal spirits (like say animal guides and such) don’t have that. They’re just themselves.
