Contrary to what is apparently popular belief, Sawada Tsunayoshi is not incredibly fond of explosions. Still.
In fact, he’s also not incredibly fond of being shot at, beaten up, or running into battles he isn’t sure he can win. Which is most of them. Still.
Of course, there are other things to Gokudera than dynamite. And there are other things to Reborn than guns. Sometimes. He hopes. In the same way he hopes that there is more to Mukuro than his mercilessness. More to Xanxus than his ambition. Hibari he knows there is more to - so much more than he’ll ever really understand. But he’s accepted that. He’s also excepted that Hibari has no respect for him whatsoever.
Still.
Sawada Tsunayoshi is, in fact, very good at accepting things. That he will always be something of a good-for-nothing, for example. That Kyoko is so far out of his league it’s as if they’re in separate universes. That he is clumsy. Stupid. That he only learns quickly when his soul has transcended his body.
But, as skilled as he is at accepting his own shortcomings, he is painfully unaware. Ignorant as always, as Reborn has often told him, of the fact that the way that he stands, firm and resolute, against the tickle of tremors that dance across the soles of their feet keeps his two best friends standing upright beside him. Completely unmindful of the fact that, even being the shortest of them, as long as he stands as the charred pieces fall down around them in a shower of cement raindrops and rebar, Gokudera and Yamamoto will stand beside him. Weapons and rings at the ready. Eyes open and skin sewn in a quilt of scars. Hearts threaded with silver chain. The word “Vongola” embossed thereupon. Standing.
