Warning[s]: Random crack RP pairing is go~

#01 - Walking

"The ground moves to give sensation and function of gravitational pull," River muttered under her breath as they walked in the colony; her hand was wound tightly in Duo's, as getting lost in this 'verse would be a bad start for her first date.

#02 - Waltz

He tried, really really tried, to not step on her bare feet as she taught him the dance; if not to save himself the embarrassment, then to avoid the little yelps and hurt faces she made when he did it.

#03 - Wishes

River considered the coin Duo had given her, eyes narrowing at it as she dipped her other hand into the water of the fountain, then frowned at him, "They don't work, you know," and tossed it in anyway as he laughed.

#04 - Wonder

The view here was amazing, Earth shining and spinning in front of them, but Duo wasn't looking; his eyes were on her face as wonder spread across it in a delighted smile.

#05 - Worry

Simon eyed the two of them as they left on the stolen (and rightfully so) ASREV and, for only a moment, selfishly tried to figure out a way around this new development that would make her happy but keep himself from worry.

#06 - Whimsy

River enjoyed visiting Bertie's time because there, dancing was dancing and she loved seeing Duo dressed to go out, even loved the way his eyes lingered on the hem of her short dress and shine of the costume beads trailing patterns around the neckline.

#07 - Waste/Wasteland

Duo didn't know how he was seeing this, stepping into her version of memory thanks to that son of a bitch Saxon, but there she was strapped to a chair, needles sticking out of her head and surrounded by the fading, glowing outline of corpses.

#08 - Whiskey and rum

River had never tasted it herself, but when Duo staggered into her bunk like that she could feel the alcohol humming along in his veins and it made her dizzy.

#09 - War

Slowly, gently, River put a hand to his forehead as she looked at the battles in his dreams; she wouldn't tell him she'd done it in the morning, but at that moment she needed to see for herself the sides of coins he'd been then.

#10 - Weddings

Duo figures she's decided that they don't need to wait for it (just keep walkin', preacher man) when she pulls him on top of her with determined strength and mumbles something about electric currents against his lips.

#11 - Birthday

"Was my birthday yesterday," she said, grinning hugely at him over the wave, "but it forgot me."

#12 - Blessing

"I don't know that I'm the one you need a blessing from, darlin'," Mal said, eyebrow raised as he looked from River to Duo (who was just as confused as Mal, if not more so) before she huffed loudly and stomped away, pulling Duo behind her.

#13 - Bias

He leaned into her again and she sighed as the fixed voltage of him ran through her in a jolt of light behind her eyes.

#14 - Burning

Before he could get the question out (What do you mean they built a pyre), she shushed him and let herself fall backwards against the wall; "Didn't touch the hot," she said simply, "and nothing was consumed in flames."

#15 - Breathing

River took to letting her head rest against his chest as he slept in her tiny bed because it had turned out that he was right; there were better rhythms.

#16 - Breaking

He hates feeling helpless like this and suddenly realizes how Simon must feel; the tiny cracks that start to spread in his heart every time River collapses in on herself and becomes nothing but sobs and whimpers even when he holds her close and tries to soothe her.

#17 - Belief

There isn't any faith left in him, and he knows she knows that just like she's known everything else; still, though, he has that small hopeful burst in his chest when he looks at her laughing and spinning madly for no reason at all.

#18 - Balloon

It took a few minutes of careful consideration before River bit the balloon and let it pop in her face; "You were going to let your voice go funny," she said, blinking, when he asked her why.

#19 - Balcony

They were watching movies, and River let herself wonder for a moment at the importance of balconies (very impractical, could fall leaning over like that) as Duo softly sang along with the characters on the screen.

#20 - Bane

Even after she knew the truth, the Master and his intentions, sometimes she would still tap his drums and it was the poison that worked quick as lightning to ruin any moment she had with Duo.

#21 - Quiet

When it finally hit him that nothing was ever quiet for her, that she really did feel everything and it wasn't just a turn of phrase, Duo started to make more of an effort to hold his own tongue and think as softly as he possibly could whenever he was with her.

#22 - Quirks

Talking in math again, numbers and equations, but her Double didn't mind it and did his best to keep up with her even when she left herself behind.

#23 - Question

He should have known his mind would start to wander with her body pressed so close to his, but he was still surprised when she suddenly looked to him and asked, "Why are the nurses' skirts so short?"

#24 - Quarrel

The anger from him was flashing red against her ears as he let his temper flare and it stabbed into her mind like the gorram needles, so she bit back with his own venom and hated the taste of his disappointment on her tongue.

#25 - Quitting

They had both done it, given up on each other in equal parts and let the silence stretch between them for weeks, but she still missed him and he still wanted her to come to her senses and come to him.

#26 - Jump

Considering everything he knew about her world and what had happened to her there, picking a horror movie was probably not the wisest choice he'd ever made and he shut it off the first time she jumped off the couch, eyes squeezed shut and hands over her ears to block out the noise.

#27 - Jester

Even in the war, he'd played the joker and it almost worried him that she was able to see past that to all the horrible parts of his past; the fact that she didn't turn away from him afterwords helped set his mind at ease, at least for now.

#28 - Jousting

When Duo and Simon started fighting, the same fight every time, she'd simply watch and imagine them tilting at each other with toothpicks to get their meanness out of her head.

#29 - Jewel

She looked at the glittering necklace on Inara for a span of time that would probably be considered rude, but it was enough for her to decide that she liked the synthetic heart around her neck much better.

#30 - Just

Their relationship was built on justs and almosts, barely-there strings with barely-there breaks in the twists, and Simon was always quick to remind Duo of it.

#31 - Smirk

Duo never could keep the smirk from his lips when she started rambling enthusiastically about something he could only half-understand, and he pressed a kiss to River's forehead as she went on.

#32 - Sorrow

River knew he wasn't listening (ears are closed, always closed, my fault shenme shenme) but she had to say it anyway and force as much understanding out of herself as she could; "He built the walls inside and made me not see, made me not River like they did and wouldn't let me see," was all she got out before it was just the salt of tears on her mouth.

#33 - Stupidity

When she raised her eyebrows at him, (What now) he only brushed his hand across her naked hip and chuckled at her; "For a genius, you can be really stupid sometimes," he said, letting his hand wander and smiling against the heat of her skin as she shivered under him.

#34 - Serenade

It started with dancing, bare feet and no music playing, but slowly he started to hum and the hum became words and soon he was singing to her and she was pulling the harmony from his memory so that she could hum along; she had never heard the song before but it was fast becoming her favorite.

#35 - Sarcasm

"Of course you do, babe," he said and all she gave him for it was a slight tilt of her head and questioning look; River didn't like his tone.

#36 - Sordid

Duo had spent the day helping with a job on a dusty speck of a moon and River had been with Kaylee working on the engines, and the chord that was struck in him seeing her with a spot of grease smeared from her jaw down her neck echoed in her when he stepped back into Serenity covered in sweat and with dirt under his nails; they only showered after.

#37 - Soliloquy

She had always talked to herself, little mumbles and mutters even when all the crew was around, but Simon had to wonder if this new thing with Duo was bringing it out of her more and more often.

#38 - Sojourn

Hesitantly, she touched the wall of her bunk he had slept next to and tried to remind herself that he would be back soon and, even though the times he spent in her 'verse were short, they should both be glad to be able to have them at all.

#39 - Share

It was a simple lesson from the earliest teachers, but they weren't children now and River watched as Duo and Quatre kissed and she let her head spin between their thoughts as they pulled her between them, selfish wanting spread across the rich sheets of Quatre's bed and crawling up her back.

#40 - Solitary

This wasn't where she was supposed to be, dark room and back in the box the box with locks and nothing but quiet and dark surrounding her as she was thrown deep, deep down into the sea, but River cried and scratched at the door like a cat and hoped that this time they wouldn't send her a Not-Duo to trick her, too.

#41 - Nowhere

He still wouldn't talk to her without walls firmly in place around himself, and as she sat at the controls of the ASREV she couldn't think of a single place she wanted to go without him in it, so she curled her legs underneath her in the seat and went nowhere at all.

#42 - Neutral

River always ended up sitting to the side and playing referee for her own amusement; she was, of course, the only one who could see both sides of Duo and Simon's arguments.

#43 - Nuance

It still took a lot for him to understand what she said sometimes, but he was getting better at figuring it out; finding the hidden meanings in all her jumbled words and the bright smile she showed him when he got it right were worth keeping his temper in check.

#44 - Near

River hovered over him, "You're putting that piece in wrong," and let her chin set on his shoulder as she pointed out his mistake; if it wasn't for the fact that he enjoyed having her this close after all their time apart, he would have shrugged her off and done it his own way out of spite.

#45 - Natural

He looked on in shock as she tore through simulated mobile suits, eyes closed and guns blazing, moving to flick switches she'd never known before as naturally as she danced.

#46 - Horizon

Whenever they were at Quatre's, she liked to leave the both of them inside to pester Simon while she walked barefoot on the grounds and felt the horizon gently shift as they all spun around the sun.

#47 - Valiant

There was nothing heroic in him when he looked down at the Time Lord laying prone on the floor and there was nothing brave in kicking him squarely in the chest, but fuck did it feel good; Duo reasoned to himself that the bastard deserved it and went to help Quatre and Simon coax River out of the little ball she had folded herself into on the floor nearby.

#48 - Virtuous

"She's a young girl," the Shepherd started, "and I'm sure you know the Lord frowns upon the sullying of the virtuous," and Duo only sneered at the man before turning it into a derisive laugh and walking away.

#49 - Victory

It was a small victory, but she took it with a smile and kissed him quickly on the cheek, little hand still down the front of his pants; "I win," she giggled before pulling back and wandering off, leaving him, frustrated, to wonder exactly why he ever bothered starting it.

#50 - Defeat

For all the times he felt the defeat that came with simply having  been in the war, for all the nights he didn't sleep and days he didn't let himself feel, having her with him made it seem a little further away than it had been before.
