- It is CT! On the DS!! You can't go too far wrong! XD - Anime opening sequence with orchestral version of main theme: GOD YES. XD <3 <3 <3 - Little DS bonus features (maps, larger menus, touch-screen menu options...): Nice, but could take them or leave them. - Extra dungeons: yet to get that far, but I am intrigued... - English language option: Dude. Complete retranslation o_O. And you can switch between languages at any time in-game...! :O
Translation geekery: Major plus point: Frog's appalling Olde English dialect is no more! In general, from the few places I directly compared, the translation seemed really solid, with some nice choices of expression (魔王 = Fiendlord :D). But the dialogue sometimes felt a little stilted and lacking in character... I have to check different eras though - I didn't look at much and it might just have been a 600 AD thing.

Ah, yeah... the one thing you could never, ever accuse Ted Woolsey of was translations that lacked character. The Ye Olde Englishe *did* make us want to throw the controller, I admit, both in CT and in FF6; I'm guessing it was an attempt to replace a more formal Japanese dialect, but dude, if you want to use Elizabethan English or whatever as an equivalent, at least make it correct. "Thee" and "thou" are NOT interchangeable, for starters

The weird thing is, it actually wasn't, in Frog's case at least. He speaks pretty normally in Japanese. The Olde English just came out of nowhere. (>_>)
And also, have you played Final Fantasy 4 DS? I've heard mixed reviews of it, and this also makes, apparently, four official translations of the game (I've been told that the GBA retranslation is the best, as far as seeming to be done by translators who cared and wanted you to care about everyone too).
No, I haven't played it, though I've had my eye on it for a while. I wonder if the Japanese version has both languages, as in CT...
