Ivy lounged in her private quarters on a bed of vines, twisting and twining lazily around her as she wrote. She had a pad and pen in her hands and was writing up an evaluation of her latest experiment. It hadn't gone well, but that's why she liked performing her little experiments on people- there were always more when a batch went to pot. She smiled as she thought about this, pausing with the end of the pen between her red lips.
Suddenly, the vines around her tensed and Ivy could hear the unmistakable sounds of somebody moving around outside. She glowered.
Putting on her sweetest voice, she called, "Oh Persephone!~ Is that you, dearest?"
Shit. It was an inevitability that their paths would cross, what with sharing the same lair and all, but there had been a small part of Persephone that was hoping Ivy had up and died while she was gone. That faint hope is now smashed against so many rocks.
The goddess changes her direction, plodding towards Ivy's room as she steels herself. "Yes! It is me. I am back. As if I would be anyone else."
"Just making sure," Ivy singsongs back. She makes a face to herself and the vines beneath her surge, bringing her up to her feet. "I wouldn't want our friend the bat sneaking up on me unawares."
She opens the door and lounges on the lintel, smiling serenely.
