So! Hello! I keep doing this thing where I wait forever and a half to make an art post, and end up making nothing at all! Well, here I am to post a bit, anyway!
Starting with finished pictures! I decided against doing too much with the water, and I have had some folks tell me they like it this way! Which made me feel like I made the right choice. Which was awesome. This girl resembles a couple different characters of mine, so I'm just gonna label her "Unknown" for now.
The idea of this one was to make it kind of surreal? With the boxy clouds and weird expression and coloring? Not sure if it came across that way, or just un-cohesive.
Most recently completed! I ranted about this on Deviant art so I"m not really gonna type too much. Here we go, copy paste!:
THIS IS ishtar, mesopotamian goddess of love, life, death, war, and kingship. by far my favorite one ever. The horned hat is a sign of divinity, with the more horns equating more importance. She wore both the kilt of a warrior and the dress of a woman, and always carried around various weapons. I kind of used artistic license on them, haha. The rod and ring in her hand is another sign of divinity or divine rule. AND red is her official color. : ) lol she didn't bother with shirts ever either. A++!!! good job mesopotamia
a quick google search or search in DA reveals that most artists' interpretations know absolutely nothing about Ishtar, let alone the art of the ancient near east. Most of the interpretations have Islamic-era near eastern motifs, which was pretty much way beyond her time. Christianity wasn't even invented yet, lol!
Mesopotamian culture in general is one of the most ill-funded and unpopular area of art history study, when it was actually pretty much the most influential one. (Guess who invented beer?)
In any case, while this did take WAY TOO LONG, I also had fun with it. And now I'm done with my portfolio! Time to actually get to work on art debt.
P.S. the cuneiform basically reads "God(dess) Ishtar (or Inanna, her other name)"
also, here are some detail things:
This WIP is old, I've already changed a bunch, but don't quite feel like screen cappin' a whole new thing.
this is an idea of a concept of a thought for a new comic I may do, about New York City, set around 1910. It will have both fantasy and steampunk elements, though not enough to be categorized as either. Through my adventures I have discovered that men's clothing at that time involve pants fit for child birthing hips, which is convenient for the hero of my story, who doesn't mind dresses, but finds them inconvenient for all the running around she does. She might be named max. The comic might be named Empire State.
the end
For this picture, I"m not really sure how I'll go about it, but I want to try and go for a more graphic, stylistic take? It's really hard for me to do!
another sketchup of this character!
And some more!
Wills and an Iry! My micron was running out of ink so I did this. Iry does Will's hair for him.
A Sophie! I'm really crazy rusty at penciling right now, trying to catch up.
rach wip i started in a live stream.
can we talk about things i don’t really know what to do with?
one of them is drawing and shading without blending. Another is finishing things I don’t know how to do.
THIS IS AMANDINE. Every once in a while I like to draw her. Once a year, I guess? In any event, here is this one. She’s fun to draw. Her design has been changing a little, though. Ever so slightly! I might finish this later.
THANK YOUUUU FOR STOPPING BY <333333
