For visual aid, I imagine the area to be
around here on the map, provided there's not something there I don't know about. According to the wiki, Macalania is "a beautiful, glittering, maze-like bluish forest." It is a place where
pyreflies in the
waterways are absorbed into the trees via photosynthesis, forming
large and
small spheres in the branches. This phenomenon also causes glowing, ice-like
crystalline formations to grow out of the roots and
the ground. (To those characters from FFVII, they probably look a good deal like less-bright blue and green
mako fountains with occasional hints of purple or yellow.) In several springs, the roots of trees branch out to give the area a
makeshift floor under
the water. Sparkling ice crystals can be seen floating up weightlessly from the ground. The trees themselves are blue and green, and even the
soil looks blue in some places. The pyreflies and glowing ice crystals floating above the area create an
aurora borealis-like effect that
the pyreflies can be seen floating up into not far
over the treetops, even
during the daytime. Droplets thrown up by walking in the water float upward before dissipating. During the day, the sun casts
rays of light through the branches, making the spheres and floating ice
glitter through the leaves.
