My Edward appears to be sick. He is spending most of his time at the top of his tank and there is a pinky red spot on his upper fin that wasn't there before. As well, he doesn't extend his upper fin at all when he swims now.

Any ideas/suggestions?

halp!

Pan seared with a nice honey maple glaze and some fava beans.

Awwww, poor fishy. It could be several things... "ick" or maybe a air bladder issue.

Step one: Call a reputable place that sells fish like Big Al's or Zoo in the Beach and describe the symptoms to them. They can recommend the right treatments.

Step two: Put a small amount of non-iodized salt into the tank... yes, even though it is a freshwater tank. Try like half a teaspoon to start. That has always been the first advice for any fish ills that I've found.

Sorry to hear that, and good luck to Edward!

Thanks for the suggestions! I wasn't able to get in touch with any humans at either store (was on hold for a couple of mins) but I'm going to try completely cleaning out his tank and putting the salt in there.
