Why is it that this journal seems to be so easy to forget about? I suppose it may have something to do with the sheer number of things that have been going on in my life lately.

As I'm sure everyone knows by now, Sirius was disowned over Christmas due to that prat Potter. Good riddance. Even if he is my brother, and pretty decent when his mates ( Read more... )

In defense of myself in speaking as one of Sirius' friends, I tried to tell James. Apparently this is what happens when I don't keep a close eye on either of them, so... I suppose I apologize--whatever the sentiment is worth in this context. As much as I think it will do Sirius some good, it is sometimes easy to forget that the repercussions are worse for you.

You're the only one of Sirius' friends with any sense whatsoever, so I can believe that.

Sirius gets to live with his best friend while I'm stuck with my mother. Of course the repercussions are worse for me. Though I'm sure Sirius has told you how my mother is -- he's not exaggerating, surprisingly.

What is with the Potter family? It's like they have zero sense of self preservation. Which, apparently, they drag their "friends" into recklessly.

At least now you're going to inherit?

I think it's more Gryffindors in general than exclusively the Potter family -- though, to be sure, the Potters are worse than most other Gryffindors. It's as if they have their own brand of reckless stupidity.

There is always that.

Regulus, if you need to talk about this in...less public a forum, you know I'm always here.

[[OOC: If so, we could start a post and everything. Though my life has just imploded, so I cannot in any way promise to respond promptly until I've sorted out my visa and PhD upgrade proposal, which will probably be another week. That's also why I utterly forgot to send you a message about how we all ought to do something nice for Regulus's birthday, especially considering the recent tumult among the Black families.]]

I second Narcissa's response. So much could be said about this, including how much (or little) I am shocked by this behavior. Endure, Regulus. The reward shall be sweet if you do. If I can be of any assistance, even if for just helping you keep your sanity, please let me know.

Regulus Arcturus Black, shame on you for talking about your brother in such a way. Even if he's been disowned, he is still your blood. I understand that this has been hard on you. Really I do, and I hate that it has. But that is no excuse for such a childish attitude. Think how Sirius must be feeling? I know me and my own mother have never gotten along and never will, but if she disowned me I'd be heartbroken. Even if I got to go live with my best mates.

I hope you had a Happy Birthday. My present to you has been slightly delayed but I got it in the mail today, so be expecting it soon.

[[[OOC: It's a large basket of various muffins in individually enchanted wrappers. When you open one it instantly becomes as if freshly baked. The note reads: Happy Birthday little cousin. May this see you through late night study sessions and late mornings.]]]

What, exactly, did I say to criticise him? I was merely stating that Mother is insane and that Sirius being disowned has only served to intensify that. I'm not stupid enough to believe for a second that she's ever preferred me for any reason other than my House - had Sirius been a Slytherin, no matter how obstinate he may have behaved, he would have been the favourite son. Everything positive the woman's ever done for me has only been to spite him, and it's not like I don't know that.

I really don't have a problem with Sirius at all; at least he could stand up to Mother. I have a problem with his choice of friends, and that's it. ...Disregarding the fact that he gets much better marks than I do without ever trying, which is a bit... irritating.

I suppose it's more the manner in which you seemed to be flaunting your presents and such. But your right I reread your post and you don't. I'm sorry, this entire incident has had me very frazzled. I shouldn't have jumped down your throat like that. Would you like a hat to go with your Christmas scarf as an apology?

I understand. I'm really sorry. I think the biggest thing with this, aside from it just being upsetting in and of itself, I'm... I must admit that I'm terribly scared Mother this take this idea to heart. I'm by no means her favorite, and I'm not even anything so important as a son.

She wouldn't dare. Besides, this gives her an excuse to feel superior to Aunt Walburga, and you know she won't give that up easily.
