i'm finally getting my ass back into comics, b/c i made a friend who is pulling me back in with a helping hand since it's all so complicated. any recs for a newbie? besides Hush, Under the Hood

You should definitely check out final crisis. There's a bunch of other stuff leading into it, so it should keep you busy a while. But FC is a HUGE chunk of the DC universe.

Kind of a spoiler, but I'm pretty sure you've heard Batman dies in Final Crisis...and now they're starting to bring him back in "Batman and Robin", so that's super exciting.

And once you're done with Final Crisis, you have to read "Blackest Night". It's ultra epic.

I'm not a Marvel fan, so I can't give you anything about marvel, but DC, seriously...Final Crisis and then Blackest Night.
