Whisper,

Entwine Together

Matti smiled when he saw the magnetic words stuck to the fridge in the team bus. He collapsed into one of the seats and was thankful for the opportunity to rest. He couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel for a massage. Andy would barge to the front of the queue if he wasn’t allowed to go first so that gave Matti a bit of time to find something else to occupy him...

His eyes were drawn automatically to the front of the bus in search of one team member in particular. Finding the man in question missing he debated whether it was too short notice to request company for this evening. He glanced across at the fridge and decided there was probably less chance of him getting knocked back if he was getting left notes.

Kiss,
taste,
Naked Pleasure

His smile widened when he saw the picture message waiting for him on his phone when he pulled it out of his bag. It looked like he wouldn’t be spending tonight alone after all... It had been three days since he’d stolen a kiss on the way to dinner and he was in need of more contact. It was the downside of being involved with management, it required maintaining a certain professionalism when they were around other team members.

Privately Matti thought that what they were doing went way beyond discreet but he didn’t dare mention it again after the argument it had caused the last time. It was a conversation best left for when they were back at home and they both had some free time. He glanced back down at his phone and hoped the message meant what he thought it did. “Someone looks happy,” Jakob interrupted his thoughts.

“I am,” he responded before looking away from the message. “You look like shit.”

Jakob rolled his eyes before wiping his face on his team jersey. Matti almost told his friend that it wouldn’t help much but held out his towel instead. Jakob took it gratefully and walked to the back of the bus. He returned moments later and held a bottle out to Matti. “Thanks.”

The towel was thrown back at him and he pulled a face before throwing it further down the bus. “If you want the room you can just say,” Jakob said conversationally. “You don’t have to insult me first.”

“I know but it’s a nice bonus,” he teased.

Jakob threw his bottle top at Matti before taking a long drink from the bottle. At least there hadn’t been an outright rejection which was always a good sign. Matti waited patiently for a decision and hoped he didn’t look too desperate. “Where am I meant to go?”

“Don’t give me that, I know you really want to go see Roman.”

Jakob looked at him for a few minutes before sighing and Matti just about kept the smile off his face in anticipation of what was coming next. “Fine but I expect details tomorrow.”

He wondered if Jakob would be so interested if he knew exactly who Matti was going to spend the night with. He had no intention of swapping stories but he’d worry about how he was going to get out of it tomorrow when it was too late for Jakob to change his mind. “All right.”

“This better not get me in trouble with Bjarne.”

“I’ll sort it,” he responded.

Terms apparently agreed Jakob went in search of his own seat and Matti put his phone back in his bag as more of the team got on the bus.

Hunger,
lust,
Delicious passion

There was a Polaroid stuck to the bathroom mirror when he came back from his massage and he reached up to pull it down. The words were wonky and not as neat as the others had been. They were spread across the fridge and there was space between the magnets. He recognised Bjarne’s fridge but not the reason for the disarray.

Maybe he’d ask about it later if he remembered but he hoped that questioning Bjarne’s technique would not be high on the list of things to do this evening. As it was he still had to sit through a team meal this evening and that was going to be trying enough. Thankfully there was a finite amount of time that could last else he’d probably be thinking up reasons why it should end early. The waiting would soon be over; at least he hoped it would...

The Polaroid floated to the floor in between kisses and if Matti hadn’t been barefoot he probably would’ve missed it. Instead it stuck to his foot and he was forced to release Bjarne so he could remove it. He was about to discard it when he realised what it was.

The magnets in this photo were lying on the floor of Bjarne’s kitchen and now the other picture made perfect sense. That wasn’t how they’d looked the first time he saw them, both sets had been neatly arranged on the side of the fridge. Images flashed through Matti’s mind as he remembered exactly how they’d ended up like that.

He looked up at Bjarne unsure of what to say. That had been one of the first times they’d ever slept together and usually his boss wasn’t the sentimental type. Then again normally Bjarne would leave him messages over several days rather than just one so clearly there were new rules, for today at least.

This time it was Bjarne who made the first move; hands cupped his face moments before lips pressed against his. It was strange for him not to be pushing the matter, not to be asking for just one more touch, wanting one more minute, and he was surprised how much of a different experience it was. Now he wasn’t required to listen out for anyone approaching and he didn’t have to worry he was pushing things too far.

It took a while for that knowledge to sink in but when it did Matti felt the tension just slipping away. He could finally be in the moment and just feel. He reached out to touch sure that it wouldn’t be rejected and that’s when he noticed Bjarne hadn’t showed since they’d got back from the stage. Bjarne still smelt like a day on the road even if he tasted like the red wine they’d had at dinner.

For the first time in a long time they had no direction and Matti couldn’t begin to describe how much he loved it. One had left his face to haul him closer and he smiled into the kiss. Perfect... the hand moved lower, so perfect.

The kiss came to a natural conclusion and Matti couldn’t help but smile. “You look tired.”

Even the reminder that Bjarne’s bedside manner could do with some work was not enough to dampen his happiness. It didn’t matter if there might be some truth in that statement, he was not going to admit that. It would just mean he would find himself alone and he didn’t want that. “Jakob’s not coming back tonight,” he said instead.

Bjarne smiled. “Is that a hint I should go get my pyjamas?”

“I think it is,” he murmured.

Bjarne kissed him again and he was almost tempted to say to hell with the pyjamas. Until he remembered the one time he’d done that. Bjarne had left at some obscene hour in the morning and he hadn’t liked that. Pyjamas gave them options and he already had a long list of excuses as to why Bjarne was in his room if anyone was stupid enough to ask. “I’ll be back in a minute.”

Matti was in bed and almost asleep by the time Bjarne slipped into the bed beside him. He shifted as he tried to find a more comfortable position and felt arms come around him. “Sorry, I had to calm down the rabble.”

“S’okay,” he replied sleepily.

“Go to sleep.”

Matti shifted again and burrowed his head in his pillow. “I’m not tired.”

Bjarne laughed quietly at his objection before kissing the back of his head. “Okay.”

He finally got comfortable and sighed happily. “Shut up,” he mumbled into the pillow.

Bjarne wisely said nothing.

“Too early!” Matti complained and pulled his pillow over his head.

It was far too early to get woken up he decided as his hand fumbled blindly on the table beside the bed. Once his fingers found the offending object he attempted to press buttons to get it to stop. When that didn’t work he launched it across the room. There was a satisfying sound of plastic hitting an immovable object and then there was blissful silence.

He pushed aside the pillow and was almost asleep again when he felt lips against his shoulder. “I have to get back to my room.”

He objected to that plan on so many levels but he wasn’t really in a position to come up with a coherent argument as to why right this second. “Stay.”

“Go back to sleep.”

“Stay,” he repeated.

“I’ll see you in a few hours.”

This was not how he wanted to start his day. He wanted to wake up with Bjarne’s arms around him and another picture message on his phone. When it occurred to him that he had at least half of what he wanted he concluded he should have been more specific in his demands. He wanted to wake at a decent hour with Bjarne’s arms around him when they were both still in bed. He reluctantly opened his eyes and blinked a few times before he rubbed a hand over his face. “Bjarne,” he objected.

“I have to get back to my room before everyone wakes up.”

Just because that was how things had to be didn’t mean Matti had to like it. He huffed loudly and Bjarne reached out to caress his cheek gently. He hated early morning goodbyes, they always made him resentful of the rest of the team. “You’ll feel better after a few more hours sleep.”

That might also be true but he wasn’t feeling gracious right now, he wanted to be annoyed. He huffed again and Bjarne smiled at him. “Atta boy.”

Matti tried very hard not to smile. “Jerk.”

Bjarne moved closer and he shifted onto his back. It was meant to be a brief kiss, something to placate him enough to let Bjarne leave. When that changed he couldn’t say, probably about the time he realised that Bjarne had brushed his teeth using Matti’s toothpaste. At that point Matti became less concerned about morning breath and more interested in pulling Bjarne closer.

He was definitely never telling anyone about this, he’d never hear the end of it. Bjarne nibbled on his ear and he pushed at the duvet. If he was awake he might as well put the time to good use, he decided and slid his hand under Bjarne’s top. “Come back to bed,” he demanded.

“My room tonight has a double bed,” Bjarne offered instead. “I’m sure you could come up with a good excuse to leave the table early.”

Bjarne was offering him a whole night and he wasn’t going to have to get rid of Jakob in order for it to happen. Matti pushed at Bjarne’s chest so he could see the other man’s face. He wanted to know if Bjarne was being serious or not. They’d never done that before and he wanted to be sure he’d heard right. “Say that again.”

Bjarne looked uncharacteristically nervous. “I’ve been really busy and I wanted to make it up to you.”

Matti wasn’t sure what to say, he’d never expected Bjarne to make that sort of offer to him. In the end he just nodded his agreement. “My room later?” Bjarne queried.

He nodded again enthusiastically and Bjarne smiled. “Get some more sleep.”

“Yes boss,” Matti teased.

He was glad when Bjarne decided that kissing him was the only appropriate response. “Would now be a good time to mention I think I broke your phone?” Matti asked when the kiss ended.

“I don’t think there’s ever a good time for that. Go back to sleep.”

Bjarne tucked him back in and even though Matti didn’t think he would be getting back to sleep any time soon he didn’t object. He was surprised when he was woken a few hours later by his phone beeping. He reached out for it and smiled when a picture message appeared. Apparently he hadn’t done too much damage this time.

Heart
Love
Promised soulmate

Matti smiled when he saw the new message on the fridge. He was learning that Bjarne could be romantic when he wanted to be, it just wasn’t always in the way Matti expected. He’d just settled in his seat when Jakob came and sat next to him looking slightly tired but very happy. “Good night?” Matti asked.

“Yeah,” was all Jakob said. “Did Bjarne say anything?”

“No.”

Jakob hesitated and Matti looked across at him. “Do you need me to come up with a new excuse or do you want me to make alternate arrangements for later?”

“If you don’t mind?”

Matti smiled and thought things couldn’t have worked out better. “I have plans for tonight so I won’t get in your way.”

“Thanks.”

“I expect you to share all the details tomorrow,” Matti teased.

“Cunt.”

They sat together in companionable silence as the team bus set off and Matti began to contemplate whether Bjarne might finally be open to rewriting a few of the rules.
