So far, i am quite envious of your freedom. This trip sounds amazing. I too love (and miss) mountains, trees, and rivers. I have told Nate several times I need to live somewhere with many mountains, trees, and rivers with much history. It looks beautiful. I am sorry to hear that the Cherokee museum was disturbing... I don't think I would be able to deal with that at all, so props to you for making it through that... I know it's hard enough for me to know my tribe (like many others) has been diminished to nothing but thin blood and memory, but to be in a place and revisit one of America's darkest moments... is extraordinary...
I think you should name your otter companion Lucky because of the little cafe you happened upon. It seems fitting and like a sign in more ways than one. The name is a little generic, which I know isn't your style, but hey, just a suggestion.
