Chemotherapy: My Hair's Falling Out Again

Feb 19, 2017 05:37

I started a new round of chemotherapy a couple of weeks ago.  The drug I was infused with is called Taxol.  My hair's starting to fall out pretty heavily, so I'll probably cut it very short soon, and wear a hat when I'm in public.

So good to hear from you. My sister is going through the same thing. I just saw on the news they now have what is called a cold cap that you wear on your head during treatment and it prevents the hair falling out.

Thank you, Yvonne. Best of wishes to your sister! I've read about the "penguin cap" online for a few years now. Unfortunately, my hospital doesn't have that device available. Maybe they're too expensive, I don't know. I hope my naturally straight hair will grow back curly again. That's fun. :)

Hi faunhaert! I didn't know if anyone would be reading Livejournal entries anymore. I wanted to post something more thoughtful than I usually post on Facebook. Thanks for your reply. I'm feeling fine. Hope you're doing well. :)

face book is too open
it's a shallow place.
with only space for micro thoughts.

my journal is the private place
away from the access of family
my life's challenge-having to elder my folks
-my self therapy is here.
