I can't believe Kirby Puckett is dead! At the age of 45! Now, as I am getting older and discovering just how fast time flys by. Forty-five just doesn't seem all that old. It boggles my mind that he died of a stroke. With all are new knowledge and technology! Now I am just thinking of the laundry list of problems that run in my family and stroke ( Read more... )

modern medical science has also yanked us straight out of said "modernized Darwin theories"

That was quite a tangent!! Hehehe. Anyways, I was more or less going off about mortality and how limited we seem to be even with all our advances today. But I do very much agree with your point. It is a point I have encountered before but was timid at the thought of sharing due to sounding apathetic. Nature finds a way of limiting us despite our advances. Natural disasters and outbreaks. It is a double-edged sword really. Life is a precious thing and yet we are overpopulating and have removed the applications of modern Darwinian theories from us and domesticated animals. In my studies throughout my undergrad career in animal science, it is well understood that for populations (herds/groups) to flourish there was a limit to the size of the population and to the amount of resources available. And in looking at domestic herds, smaller groups have less incidence of stress, injuries and diseases.

Well I could certainly go on, but we can always do that over drinks sometime too.
