That sucks, did any of the nurses look at you a second time and then feel dumb for believing you weigh enough to give? Cause once they take that pint off you, you don't... but yeah, poor you (except for the part where you don't have to get up till 10, that makes you lucky!)
I weigh enough these days. And even when I didn't, I never passed out.
More likely the problem was that my bp was 102/62. The nurse who took my bp said it was fine, so I thought it was fine, but Leah was shocked when I told her that they let me give.
And while the getting up late is always nice at the time, it sometimes (like today) means I have to stay later, which isn't so nice. I really need to work on it.
I am more surprised that your iron was good enough. Women of our age tend to have low iron and therefore, high enough for themselves (so not anemic) but not high enough for the recipient. I have been rejected left and right for the last 4-5 years of trying to donate for iron being low. It was fine for most of college but ever since.... So good for you for making it past that part, hope you feel better soon. And good for you for trying to get a second mitzvah in one day!! ~Sharon
I go back and forth on iron. I'd been rejected a few times in a row recently, but this was the 2nd time in a row of being fine. I'm usually borderline, but the drop sank, they didn't have to go to the cenrifuge this time.
