Shouldn't be too hard for some of us. ;-)

I've heard about this in other forums, but I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to accomplish. Will this scare the new owners, or just free up the servers for a day?

To show that people are truly unhappy w/ the changes. Drop advertising revenue for the day. Remind the owner that the users are what matter.

Not adding content won't kill the advertising revenues. Those keep flowing as long as people look at LJ.

As for the general protest, I don't think one day is going to do it. This idea seems to have good intentions behind it, but someone has to explain to the organizers that a boycott is not a short term solution. Boycotting something means refusing to use it at all until demands are met. You can't effect change unless you're willing to sacrifice something.
