"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men"

So sayth Willy Wonka, and so say I as well.

I made chocolate-covered coffee beans dusted with powdered mint (for the record, Lifesavers are very tough little buggers!) as a reward to myself for completing all my work for Wednesday. I rock!

Yes--I wanted to use candy canes, but the store within walking distance of my house didn't have one. Remember, I'm not a creative gourmet like you. ;) A friend's comment when I told him: "What, they didn't have powdered mint extract or something?" But the mint was necessary! The candy looks better, and tastes better, and the mint provides a surprising element to the confection--it looks like powdered sugar, but it's not! O:-)

I wasn't frowning on it. I'm just impressed that you managed to reduce one of those things to dust. What did you use, a mortar and pestle?

I wish I had one! I used a wooden mallet. It was tricky because the pieces kept flying everywhere, so I had to improvise a wall around the plate . . . it was quite a production! But it was worth it.
