Wow, it's been quite a long time since I've posted on this thing. I used to think that I'd only post on LJ until I outgrew it, but I spend so much time checking others' entries and wishing my friends posted more that I can't really say I've reached that point. Anyway, an update, in bullet-form

It's wonderful to hear you're so thoroughly enjoying the work you're doing, and that you're generally happy. Happiness can seem quite elusive some times.. and I for one have gone from school to school, field to field, country to country, seeking just that. To have a generally happy life both at work and at home (and socially) is a precious thing.

Ironic, indeed. But seemingly the case in a great many fields. I'd rather interact directly with museum visitors and/or with artworks and exhibitions than with finances and other paperwork... I met someone tonight who works for the State Arboretum - someone asked her what her career aspirations were, and she said "I love my job! If I were to move up, I'd have to spend less time with the plants, and more time indoors."

I guess the same goes for your field too...
