Lily scrubbed out her clothes in the pond by the kitchen, trying her hardest to keep her mind off the paranoia slowly creeping into her mind today. By this point, the fact she was supposed to be here and hadn't been taken by them had sunken in alongside the fact she was supposed to be in this Tower when she woke up in the morning and not in the messy room she shared with Heine and the rumbling grumbling snores coming from down the hall. Another familiar day of looking over their shoulders when they were absolutely certain no one else was looking and keeping the other in their sights as much as possible, lest those people swoop down and take them back to that place again.

Quite simply, she didn't like the idea of the people here. Back in her town (she could never grasp the name no matter how many times Bishop with his almost inhuman patience repeated it or made her write it down to make it stick in her mind), she at least had Heine and the Bishop who she knew. There were a few other people - faces, mostly. Scents. Voices. Their names usually eluded her, but she could remember bits and pieces of them - that she knew. Otherwise, things were a blur. Places she remembered fine. People? Rarely. She didn't know anyone here. There was a Heine here who wasn't her Heine, that's all she knew for certain. For all she knew, everyone here would hurt her as soon as look at her, despite how nice they seemed. That's something she remembered Bishop telling her brother and herself before they went out to run errands every morning. Trust no one but each other - not even he himself.

Lily lifted the shirt she was scrubbing a stain out of and tilted her head sideways to get a better look at it, alert to her surroundings despite how distracted she appeared to be.
