Title: Another Night (Wishing I Wasn't Here)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Ray/Gabe
Summary: When Gabe stood up to the Rooks he didn’t expect consequences like this…
Warning: Non-con and violence
Disclaimer: Not mine. Never has been. Never will be.
AN: My mind just went to a dark place with the the Rooks. Poor Gabe has to suffer the consequences of being my favorite character. I’m taking liberties with the campus and the way things work since we are still learning about the place. Thank you to howifall for encouraging me to post this as I was apprehensive about soiling such a new fandom and blood_let for the wonderful beta. Now I'm going to throw this out here and run away...

The library was quiet, as it always was. Librarian kept a tight reign on that, silencing anyone who spoke above a whisper with a sharp hiss and cutting glare. It was kind of murder for Gabe, whose work study assignment was to re-shelve books that had been returned and clean up the tables after students. Gabe liked to talk, it was no secret to anyone, but Librarian ran a tight ship and Gabe didn’t want to get on her bad side.

It was getting close to curfew so the amount of students using the library to study was the lowest it had been since he came in. He was in the process of grabbing some books left on one of the tables near the back of the library in the Biography section. It was the most secluded part of the library, completely out of view of Librarian and the only place anyone dared to speak above a whisper, though most still didn’t try it.

He was up the ladder putting away a book about Julius Caesar when he heard the distinct sound of a book hitting the floor. Looking down, Gabe saw no one, but a book that had been on his cart was on the floor. It had fallen awkwardly and he could tell that pages were being bent and crumpled.

“Oh crap,” Gabe said as he started to climb back down the ladder.

Librarian was super protective of every book. She would send write-ups to the Headmaster if a book was returned in anything other than the same condition it was checked out in. Gabe didn’t really understand why there was even a library with actual books when everything could have just been digitalized.

When he got down to the floor and bent down to pick up the book, he got the distinct impression that he was being watched. As he straightened back up, book in hand, he tried to subtly look around. He caught a flash of red going around the corner of a bookshelf, but didn’t think anything of it. There were still other students wandering around after all.

He put the book back on the cart and was about to start pushing it when he heard the thwack of a book hitting the floor behind him. Turning quickly, Gabe just caught a glimpse of a red jacket disappearing around a corner.

“I don’t know who you are, but this isn’t game time,” Gabe called, walking over to pick up the fallen book. “Librarian doesn’t really like it when people use and abuse her books.”

He peeked around the corner to see if he could spot the prankster, but there was no one there. Snorting at himself for being so paranoid, Gabe turned around and picked up the fallen book. He put the book back on the shelf where it belonged and then continued with his job. The interruptions set him back enough that he barely got all his books put away before it was time for the library to close. Librarian gave him a cool, assessing look, but dismissed him just as she always did.

The campus was pretty quiet when he left the library. Most of the students were in their dorms either already asleep or doing homework. Gabe had been forced to skip dinner lest he be late for his shift in the library, so he decided that a snack was in order before bed. The dining hall was close enough to the dorms that he didn’t really worry about whether he could get something and get to his room before security turned on. There were still a few students out and about too and he greeted anyone he recognized, but didn’t stop and talk. He was a man on a mission.

The dining hall was pretty much empty when he entered, but a chill went up his spine like it had in the library. He felt like he was being watched, but no one was paying him the least bit of attention. Shrugging, Gabe figured he was just being a little too paranoid and made his way over to the food dispensers. He ordered a chocolate shake and a piece of chocolate cake.

“Mmmm, thank you Whisper,” he told the AI.

“You’re welcome, Gabriel,” Whisper replied.

“C’mon Whisper, can’t you just call me Gabe?”

Whisper didn’t reply. Gabe took the tray from the dispenser and turned to find a seat, not that he was really going to have a problem. He was so focused on the deliciousness that was in his near future that he didn’t notice who he was walking by. One minute he was in his own little happy place and the next his foot snagged on something and he tripped. He flung his hands out to try and catch himself and while doing so, also threw his tray into the air. He only had a second being glad he didn’t land face first when the contents of his tray crashed down on him. Cold chocolate shake covered him from head to mid back. He groaned in disappointment and disgust.

“Oh hey dude, sorry about that. You should really watch where you’re going.”

Gabe winced as he pushed himself up and the cold, wet mess slid down his back. He turned his head to look at Don, who looked anything but sorry, and sighed. He wished he could say that was new for him, but the combination of being small and mouthy had led to that situation many, many times.

“S’okay man, but maybe you should try keeping your feet under the table, it might help,” Gabe replied.

Don shrugged. “You’ve got four eyes, try using them.”

The other boy with Don laughed meanly. Gabe rolled his eyes. Bullies were all the same. Same old material, same need to put others down to feel better about themselves. Gabe almost pitied them.

The cold shake slid down his back even more. Deciding not to trade barbs with them, Gabe headed to the dorms to get a shower. He would have to go to his dorm room first and he hoped that Ian would be asleep or not there. He didn’t want his friend to see him like that. Ian had a temper and would probably go after Don for it. Gabe just didn’t really want Ian getting in trouble or fighting his fights for him. Gabe would think of some kind of appropriate response, like maybe convincing Don that he would feel really good about himself if he knocked on the door of a female student and flashed her.

To Gabe’s relief, Ian was already in bed and so was the Great Unknown. He just grabbed some clothes to change into and slipped back out, being as quiet as possible.

The communal showers were Gabe’s least favorite part of Tower Prep. He had never been naked around other guys and it made him uncomfortable. It made him feel exposed and not just because he was naked, but because he was gay and the absolute last thing he ever wanted was to get a hard-on around other guys where they could see it. He was already short and awkward he didn’t need to give the bullies another reason to target him.

Because it was so late, the showers were empty and he didn’t hesitate to strip out of his disgusting, shake covered clothes. He turned on the water and adjusted the setting until it was almost too hot before he deemed it ready. He lifted his foot to take a step and was taken completely by surprise when he was grabbed from behind. A hand went over his mouth and an arm wrapped around his chest, lifting him with ease.

“Did you really think there wouldn’t be any repercussions for your little stunt?”

Gabe’s heart thumped hard in his chest as he recognized Ray’s voice. He struggled against the other boy, but Ray was a lot stronger and his grip was painfully tight. Blunt fingernails dug in harshly around his mouth as Ray made sure he couldn’t speak.

“Live by the wing, die by the talon,” Ray quoted the Rooks’ ‘blood’ oath. “Obviously I can’t kill you, but I will make you wish I would.”

Gabe didn’t even have a chance to think about how lame that was before he was released and spun around. He stumbled and then a punch to his solar plexus knocked the wind out of him and dropped him to his knees. Ray easily manhandled him over the hooks for the bathrobes and the next thing he knew both wrists were duct taped to it. He opened his mouth to call for help or try to talk Ray out of whatever he had planned, but a piece of duct tape was slapped over his mouth too.

“Not so bad ass when you can’t talk, are you?” Ray sneered.

With his back to Ray, Gabe never saw the paddle coming. Sharp, bright pain exploded in his ass and he cried out. He had been paddled before during the hazing part of pledge week when he had naively wanted to be a Rook. Yet, as a second strike hit too far up and smacked his tailbone, he also realized it was very different. It had hurt when the Rooks had paddled him, but Ray wasn’t being careful to just hit the fleshy part of his ass and he was hitting way harder. Not to mention, Gabe was naked, his ass bare for every painful strike of the wooden paddle. Tears filled Gabe’s eyes and he tried to flinch away from the attacks.

“What? No ‘thank you sir’ this time?” Ray taunted.

The tears fell freely when Ray swung and hit him square in the back. The paddle made a horrible cracking sound and Gabe sobbed, pushing himself against the wall like he might be able to get away. He tried to beg for mercy, call for Ian, anything to make the torment stop, but the duct tape effectively silenced him. If he tried to curl up, he presented a better target for Ray’s swings, but if he tried to flatten himself against the wall then Ray would hit his back more often.

Finally after what felt like hours, the torture stopped. Gabe felt like his skin was on fire all over his back and his ass throbbed. He hung his head between his arms and sobbed, coughing and gasping because he could only breathe through his nose.

“Are you crying?” Ray asked, as if it was completely unbelievable for Gabe to be crying. “I bet you’re crying for that bitch, Archer, aren’t you? You started something you can’t finish and now you want your boyfriend to save your pathetic ass.”

Gabe flinched when Ray said ‘boyfriend’ and really hoped that it was a just a jab and not an observation. If Ray honestly knew that Gabe liked Ian then it was blackmail that Ray could hold over him for however long they were there. It was the absolute last thing he needed.

“That’s right, you’re so damn obvious it’s no wonder that Archer doesn’t know himself,” Ray said, confirming Gabe’s fears. Gabe wasn’t really surprised. Every student at Tower Prep was smarter than the average kids their age; they had to be to keep up with Tower Prep’s curriculum. “I almost want to tell him just to watch him reject you, kick your ass maybe, because who would want a loser like you?”

He was still crying from the pain radiating from his back and ass, trying to ignore the hurtful words coming from the other boy’s mouth. Ray had always been mean to him since the first day Gabe woke up at Tower Prep, but he had reached a whole new level of cruelty. It was like he was honestly getting off on hurting Gabe.

“Fifteen minutes until curfew,” Don’s voice came out of nowhere.

“Get back out there and keep watch,” Ray hissed.

“Don’t tell me what to do,” Don shot back, but Gabe heard the squeak of his sneakers as he spun around and left.

Gabe jerked and cried out with fear when Ray’s face appeared over his shoulder. “Tell you what, Forrest. You use that mouth for something worthwhile for once and I won’t tell Archer you’re gay.”

Gabe shook his head frantically.

“Blow me or I’ll duct tape you naked to the flagpole with a big sign that will tell everyone how much you want to suck Archer’s cock,” Ray said, voice deadly seriously. He turned his head to speak directly into Gabe’s ear. “I know you like dick, wouldn’t you rather the rest of the school not know?”

Gabe sobbed again, but nodded. He didn’t really have a choice. No one was going to save him and he would have rather gave Ray what he wanted than be put in the mortifying position he was threatened with.

“Good boy,” Ray said and leaned back.

Gabe heard him moving around behind him and then the duct tape wrapped around the hook was cut. Gabe slumped against the wall, sore arms falling at his sides. The movement sent bright sparks of pain skittering up and down his spine.

“Get over here,” Ray ordered. “If you don’t finish before I have to leave for curfew, I’ll still duct tape you to the flagpole.”

Gabe’s hands were still bound and moving hurt so bad spots danced in his vision, but he managed to get to where Ray was sitting on a bench. Ray already had his pants unzipped and his cock out and that was when Gabe knew that he was absolutely serious in his demands. As soon as Gabe was within reach, Ray grabbed the duct tape over his mouth and paused.

“If you try and call for help, you’ll really regret it.”

It was not an idle threat, Gabe knew that. Ray could get him taped up in a very compromising way and both he and Don could be gone before help came. The showers were on the bottom floor and far enough away from any rooms to mean that someone would have to be walking by to hear him.

Ray ripped the tape off and Gabe cried out and tried to bring his hands up to the tender abused flesh. Ray caught his wrists with one unbreakable grip and wrapped the fingers of his other hand into Gabe’s hair, holding on painfully tight. Gabe didn’t even try to fight him as Ray pulled his head down, but he didn’t expect when he opened his mouth for Ray to shove him all the way down.

Gabe gagged and tried to pull back, but Ray only let him go a little ways before he shoved him back down. It was terrible and violent, nothing like what he imagined it to be like. He couldn’t catch a breath and he kept gagging because Ray made him go too far. The tears that had never really stopped kept flowing as Ray just used him, not letting him control any part of what was happening.

The only good thing was that Ray was a teenager with a small threshold and it didn’t take long. With a grunt he shoved Gabe down as he thrust up and Gabe found himself gagging and choking even more. Finally Ray let go of him and Gabe slumped onto his hands. His shoulders shook and his back screamed in agony as his body seized and he threw up violently.

“That was the worst blowjob ever, you act like you’ve never done it,” Ray sneered.

Gabe heaved again and couldn’t tell Ray that he hadn’t. He didn’t want Ray to have that against him too.

“Better cover up, the Monitors will be checking in here soon,” Ray said. Gabe wasn’t looking, but he saw when Ray stood up and heard the sound of his pants zipping up. “Now, remember this if you ever get the idea to hyper-suade me.”

With that Ray tossed Gabe’s bathrobe over him and walked away. Gabe managed to crawl a few feet from where he’d vomited before he collapsed and curled into a ball. That was how a Monitor found him some time later. The Monitor saw the vomit on the floor and assumed that Gabe had been sick and offered to help Gabe to Nurse. Gabe let the other boy help him up but refused to let the Monitor help him dress. It hurt to put clothes on over his abused skin, but he did it with as little sounds of pain as he could manage. Once he was dressed he hyper-suaded the Monitor into just escorting him back to his room. All he really wanted to do was curl up in bed and forget any of the nights events had ever happened.
