Rules and Policies

Dec 08, 2007 01:00

Mod Conduct
1. Mods will enforce the rules while following them themselves.
2. Other than the initial character set when becoming a mod, a mod must apply for a character publicly in the OoC Community. Instead of mod-approval for these applications, the first five players who reply to the application stating if it is accepted or rejected have the final decision. ALL FIVE MUST APPROVE FOR THE APPLICATION TO BE PASSED.
3. Mods are under jurisdiction of the same three-strikes system as the other players.
4. Mods are to provide warnings to players when they break the rules of conduct. Three warnings constitute a banning, regardless of circumstances.
5. Mods will not use information found in a player's individual journal as grounds to ban a player.
6. Mods are not to hound players who drop from the game.
7. Mods are to treat all players with respect and to realize they are only human. Mistakes will be made.
8. Mods will not change rules and policies without giving the players one week's advanced notice before implementation.
9. A mod's characters are not allowed to trigger the main game's plot events.

Player Conduct
1. You must check into the Activity Check at the first of every month - for further information on the Activity Checks, please read the FAQ.
2. Harassment of other players is strictly prohibited. Examples of harassment include bullying, slander, and frequent contacting of the person when it has been made clear it is unwanted. None of this will be tolerated and will result in being permanently banned regardless of the three-strikes system.
3. No godmodding or metagaming unless the other player's permission was given (and it is stated somewhere alongside the instance that permission was given). To clarify, godmodding is when you write the other character's reaction (Example: In a battle, assuming an attack does hit without the opposing player writing their own reaction or if they dodged or not), metagaming is when you use knowledge your character couldn't possibly know about (Example: Mentioning things said in a journal conversation labeled "Private" or "Screened" without there being any indication of it being hackable when your character was uninvolved).
4. No soliciting! This means no using our game for the purposes of making money! Individual commissions made outside of the game (such as for fanart or something similar) are all right - provided it has not been advertised in game and players are not solicited into buying it!
5. Answer personal question number five on the application "llama."
6. If the player conduct rules are broken three times and warnings have been provided by the mods, then you will be banned. End of discussion.
7. Players are to realize that the mod team is only human. Mistakes will be made.

Activity
1. Unless you are on hiatus, please check into the Activity Check during the first week of every month.
2. Please post into your journal at least once a week (your last two journal entries are included in your Activity Checks).
3. Please have each character participate in a thread once a month.
4. Any thread involving sexual content must be tagged with the *Not Safe For Work - Adult Content tag and must be a friends only entry. Furthermore, all appropriate warnings must be noted in English (none of this "yaoi, yuri, shotacon - you must outright say "homosexual behavior," "sexual content," etc, etc). Remember, all threads with Adult Content don't count towards Activity Checks (even basic make-out/snogging threads don't count).
5. Any thread involving violence and gore must be tagged with the *Not Safe For Work - Violence tag.
6. Please remember to use the posting format found in the Community Information section when making threads in the logs community.
7. Please remember to tag the threads accordingly (also found in the Community Information section).
8. Mods reserve the right to notify player's if thread content needs to be altered due to the environment or breaking of the rules. If the content is not changed within 48 hours of the notification, mods reserve the right to delete the thread altogether.

Player-made Plots
1. If the plot is something that will ultimately affect the entire Tower, please contact the mod team BEFORE you implement it to see if it's all right.
2. Depending on the plot, the mod team may place a time limit on it so other players will not be inconvenienced.
3. If a plot is isolated (IE: the entire Tower is not affected) then the mod team does not need to be contacted and a time limit will not be placed on the plot.
4. If you require red shirts NPCs in some form for a plot, contact a moderator. NPCs can only be played for a week and must only be used for a plot purpose. In other words - if your plot requires one or two deaths and no one is willing to give up their character, contact a mod to allow for the needed NPCs.
5. Mass plots must be voluntary. Player who choose not to participate, however, are encouraged to at least give the plot a passing mention in their journals.

General Policies
1. Each player can only have up to four characters.
2. A player can only have one character per series/fandom.
3. Character journals cannot be paid accounts. If you buy a paid account after joining the game, the journal will be removed from the game and you will have to create a new one to replace it.
4. Rule and policy changes will be given one week's notice before being implemented.
5. Applications will be reviewed every Saturday and Sunday unless otherwise noted by a mod in the OoC Community (tower_cold_shop).
6. There is a character cap of 120 characters and a player cap of 40 players to help keep things organized.
7. It is preferred (but not required) if the majority of tags in the logs community were at least two paragraphs long.
8. All characters, when applied for, must have a deviation in their canon time line. While it is allowed for them to be pulled in from the past or from the future, the events of their past must somehow differentiate from canon.
9. To help keep the game balanced considering it's intended size, we will only allow a maximum of ten characters per fandom to be allowed in the Tower at any given time.
