IMPORTANT NOTE! Because of the nature of Lina's Black magic (her Black magic being her most powerful, destructive spells), I would be restricting her to her less powerful arsenal of Shamanistic (Elemental magic such as earth, wind, fire and water spells) magic even in the event of her chip being removed. Black Magic in her canon requires the power of specific Mazoku Dark Lords to be drawn on. If a dark lord is no longer present or chooses to cut off the power draw, their spells won't work. This effect has been shown in canon, as the death of one Dark Lord rendered the spell that calls on his power to be...well, gone. As such, being in a completely different world and universe than these dark lords means Lina is without Black magic, unless one of them should appear in Discedo.

Personality: Lina Inverse - self-proclaimed as a beautiful sorcery genius, known by the rest of the world as 'Bandit Killer', 'Dragon Spooker', and 'The Enemy of All Who Live' for the collateral damage her exploits habitually cause. She's brash, impulsive, greedy, a total glutton, vain, egotistical, has a hair-trigger temper, and is a frightfully powerful sorceress on top of it all. And yet, she's not all bad - sometimes.

Lina is usually motivated by her own wants. Be it shaking down bandits and looting their camp for treasure or scoping out the nearest restaurant for a massive meal, Lina's got her own interests firmly in first place. The massive meals (she makes chefs cry on a regular basis) are up at the top, along with making a quick buck. She's even negotiated price for slaying a dragon during the dragon's attack on a village! Her merchant heritage won't allow her to see money wasted - or let an opportunity to make some cash slip by. And as sharp as she is, very few opportunities slip by her.

Some idiots may scoff at her calling herself a sorcery genius, but the truth of it is that Lina is exactly that. Sheer magical capacity aside, she has a brilliant mind for spellwork. She's made spells and modifications since she was young, and mastered spells that sorcerers high above her in age and rank could never hope to. And though she's not mastered every aspect of magic, she's at least dabbled in the knowledge of most fields.

Her intelligence isn't limited to her spellwork, either. Her memory for history, legends, folklore and anything else that catches her interest is pretty impressive. She's a quick thinker, able to strategize on the fly and sometimes catch the details that will turn a fight around. But she's just guessing as often as not, and sometimes she's outright gambling her life on a hunch. And like anyone, she sometimes has completely brainless moments that leave her incredibly embarrassed.

Speaking of embarrassing her - don't. Lina's got a terrible temper, and will physically attack someone or unleash a spell on anyone who gets it to flare up. It's unlikely she'll care about any status or rank you have, either, since she's unleashed spell attacks on royalty without batting an eye. A surefire way to be on the wrong end of a Fireball is to make a derogatory crack about her (lack of) breasts, one of the few things she's sensitive about. Her temper also tends to flare when she deems someone is being an idiot, and the reaction to that ranges from simple frustration to a good swing at the offending idiot.

Even when she's left a trail of destruction behind her, Lina's pretty good at dodging out on responsibility - or talking her way out of it. She's perfectly okay with manipulating people, faking remorse, or playing the 'innocent young maiden' card to get out of trouble. If that doesn't work, simply heading for the hills is perfectly okay with her, too. She's not above letting others fight some of her battles or simply walking away from a fight when it's not profitable for her, not a blow to her ego to leave, too much trouble, or when it's not an inescapable fight for her life.

Lina isn't always completely selfish, though. She honestly cares about the well-being of her companions, and will try to cheer them up in her own awkward way when they're feeling down. Seeing her friends hurt, especially because someone's after her blood, will bring her anger to an arctic level and get her to be serious faster than anything else. There are times when she's gone to face a fight or taken a hit simply because not doing so would have put either innocent bystanders or people she cares about into real danger, as well.

Lina's not always entirely confident. With her age comes the usual insecurities - body issues. Being constantly surrounded by busty, curvy women on her travels and back home has made Lina rather sensitive about what she considers her less-than-stellar chest. It doesn't help that even the bandits are insulting her about it - hell, they know her for it! Along with rumours of her power, come the rumours of her lack of attributes. It's enough to give a girl a complex.

She has only two phobias - slugs, and her elder sister, Luna Inverse. Slugs send her into a frenzied panic, complete with shrieking and crying. So much as mentioning her sister will send her into full-fledged, primal terror. Luna Inverse is the only person Lina will obey no matter what. She even agreed to save the world from a prophecy of destruction pretty much because Luna said so.

For all her personality flaws and anger management issues, Lina does have a few soft spots. She seems to tone down around children, and even seems inclined to be generous towards them, which has been used against her in the past. She also has a soft spot for her traveling companion, Gourry Gabriev, though she rarely lets it show at all and swore for a very long time that she was only sticking with him because of his ownership of the Sword of Light, a powerful magical artifact. However, she still sticks with him even after he gives up the sword to the original owners, and doesn't seem inclined to part from his company anytime soon.

Somehow, despite everything, Lina is the natural leader of whatever group she's ended up with. Her never-say-die attitude, her willingness to keep trying even when it looks nearly hopeless, and her strange brand of optimism seems to draw people into following her. She won't stand for gloomy, fatalistic views, or the notion that fighting to die is somehow noble and romantic. When she fights, it's to win, because fighting any other way turns your tiny chance of success into zero chance. She's had a lot of powerful enemies try to prove her wrong on this, but she's the one still standing so far.

What your character can offer: Lina is a powerful sorceress, even without her specialty Black magic. She's got everything under her belt, from spells for light or fishing to offensive spells that can take down most regular monsters in one shot. Not only does she bring these spells, she brings the creativity to use them in diverse, useful ways. She's created spells to make Trolls implode because of their own regenerative powers. She's used modified golem-making spells for construction. There's very little she can't accomplish with her magic.

Lina brings not just a great deal of magical power, she brings a breadth of knowledge and experience unexpected in someone her age. Her abilities in combat are nothing to sneeze at, nor is her ability to strategize on the fly. She's also not a bad hand with a sword, and is certainly more than good enough to deal with the average mook. She's also not at all bad at just throwing a punch, either.

Lina's also experienced with being on the road and traveling, so doing without is not something she's a stranger to - though it's certainly something she's not going to like. She's done plenty of exploring in dangerous places as well, so she'll be an asset to checking out any yet-unexplored areas of Discedo.

Lastly, though she's no diplomat, Lina can usually get people to do what she wants through sheer persistence and force of will. The ability to...motivate people has served her well in her own world, and will probably still be useful in Discedo

What items will they be bringing with them? The clothes on her back, a short sword, and her Demon's Blood Talismans, which are normally magical amplifiers. However, being in Discedo will render them useless, as they draw power directly from the Dark Lords of her own universe.

Third-Person Sample: As she'd rather been looking forward to a delicious breakfast, Lina was finding it just a bit more than irritating to find herself, not in the inn she had stayed in, but in what seemed to be pretty run-down, creepy city. Further, it was downright infuriating to find that her magic wasn't working at the moment, though no reason for this had presented itself yet. She hadn't even seen any Mazoku lately, and the other possibility was... Well, that wasn't the reason either, by her calender. Someone was going to explain this, and soon, or there was going to be hell to pay.

She stalked along, grumbling under her breath and grinding the occasional pebble to dust under her heel in frustration. No breakfast, no magic, and, worryingly, no sign of Gourry around this creepy place. At least no one had changed her clothes. If this turned out to be some weird attraction like that screwy 'Dimensional Labyrinth' again, she swore they were never going to be able to find enough pieces to put the place back together. Dust, that's what she would leave for them to clean up.

She carried on, deeper into the city, mentally running over her priorities. First, find some food, or barring that, someone who could take her to food. Second, find out where the hell Gourry was, since he couldn't have gone that far. And third, figure out where she was, or raise hell trying. There had to be someone here she could pump for information. Unless she was in a pocket dimension, which would definitely be very bad and mean her life was likely to get complicated again very shortly.

Shaking off that disturbing thought for the moment, Lina glared at the strange device she'd found on her person. She didn't know what it did, but it didn't seem helpful yet.
