I am SO HAPPY.

The Mini Contest over at brigits_flame  that I'm hosting has TWENTY-ONE PEOPLE signed up so far.

TWENTY.  ONE.

I'm happy.  So happy.  But damn it, I hate unrounded numbers.  If that number doesn't go up to 25 it'll make my teeth hurt.

For anyone on my flist who doesn't follow BF but might be interested in doing so, this challenge is a great way ( Read more... )

So many people signed up because the contest is brilliant!! :D

(It didn't click for me why we were capped at 1000 words. Apparently I need sleep.)

Eh, it's no more so brilliant than some of our other contests. Like the anonymous one? THAT was a stroke of sheer genius to me. I'm really pissed that I missed that one.

(aw, see. I was gonna write that up in the post, but didn't. *fails at life*)

What's really unique about this one is that we're all united by one artist, but his range of work is enormous (there's loads of versatility). You also rein us in with the word count and the context in which we write our pieces (especially if someone picked an Ophelia portrait or anything that has an explicit theme/meaning behind it).

Oh, just take the compliment Toxie! :P

You do not fail at life. See previous line. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I also didn't realize that that was why the limit was 1000 words. Whoops.

I think our lack of awareness deserves a super special high five. ;)

I thought about writing up the reason why in the post, but figured it might be kind of obvious. Now I'm having a headdesk moment.

I'm so glad you put this up. I've been off LJ for a couple days (had an incredible party here) and wouldn't have known. I was really sad that I missed the deadline for 'Stealing a Kiss' (since I have what I think is a kickin' story for it) so this helped perk me up. I didn't even know about the mini-comp until you put this up.

Thank you!! <3

HAHA! I missed the deadline, too. We should both still write and post them though.

Steal a kiss? Nay. We shall steal the mistletoe!

Yes we should post them! (I just need to pin the tail on mine)
YESYESYESYESYES!!!

How'd you know I stole the mistletoe? Wait. I didn't do it. You can't prove it. No really. There's no video. It's a myth, like Santa. Ignore the mistletoe hanging from my belt. I swear that's mine. I bought it. My cat ate the receipt but I'm sure when the clerk comes back from vacation she'll vouch for me.

Yeah, I need to finish mine as well. How about we make a pact to try and finish them this week, post them on Saturday?

I know you did because I saw you do it and cut it off your belt. It's now very strategically sewn to the front of my underwear.

Ooh! I think I'll be participating in that. It sounds like fun. Do you need to be a member of BF?

I was reeeeeeally hoping you'd be interested in this one. I've been trying to recruit you to the Flame for HOW LONG NOW?

I'm not sure if you HAVE to be a member, but it'd be very nice if you were. If anything, the community is incredibly warm and friendly, and the monthly contests are always a lot of fun. You could always try to use the prompts for novel work, like if you're stuck getting into a character's head or something. That's what I've done in the past and will be focusing more on in 2011.

Not to mention the editing staff is FANTASTIC. Like, I have learned SO much more about writing and have improved tons since joining last year.
