A/N: Probably not very good... took me about an hour to write.... the challenge was: an H/D fic, 484 words, they had to be locked out of their apartment and trying to get back in - WITHOUT using magic... it's for
slash_challenge here's my take... Lemme know what you think!
Harry looked up at the rain soaked figure trying to climb up to a balcony on the third floor of a six-story apartment complex in London. "Draco, don't fall!" he yelled as Draco lost his grip on the railing.
The two had been in hiding for three months now, ever since Timothy Gigler, a Death Eater who had quite a bit of merit with the Ministry and had become Minister of Magic after Cornelius Fudge's untimely demise last July, had slowly replaced top Ministry Officials with Voldemort's most loyal followers; one of whom, had been Draco's father, Lucius Malfoy who had been let out of Azkaban on a technicality. Draco had run away from home and had showed up at Hogwarts, not long after, Dumbledore received word from Snape that Voldemort had found Harry and was coming after him. Professor Dumbledore, for some reason, had sent both Draco and Harry here to London, assuring them that they would be safe in the apartment and warning them not to use magic, for fear of detection. While doing their grocery shopping, they had been chased down the street, almost the whole way back to the complex, by a group of masked Death Eaters. They had dropped everything - including their keys - while trying to get away.
Finally, Draco got up to their third floor balcony and helped Harry up to it.
"Why did you leave anyways? You could be picking on some Hufflepuff First Years back at Hogwarts right now instead of fleeing for your life..." said Harry confusedly.
"No," Draco said whilst glaring at Harry, "I could be in a box in the cemetery on my father's estate... didn't Dumbledore tell you? I left because they were going to kill me."
Harry's eyes widened. "Why were they trying to kill you?"
Draco's look was unreadable. "Because, they found out." He said angrily.
Harry was confused. "Found out what?" he asked as he inserted a small paperclip that he had found on the balcony just below theirs into the lock on the sliding glass door.
"WHAT are you doing?" Draco asked mystified.
"Picking the lock, what does it look like?"
"And just where did you learn how to do that?"
"From Fred and George Weasley, now answer my question!"
"My father found out that I'm in love with you, okay? Now just get the bloody door open!" Draco yelled as tears were beginning to fall down his already soaked face.
The door clicked open, and just in time too, for at that moment the paperclip fell out of Harry's hands and off of the balcony. "You're kidding me, right?"
"I wish I was..." he said and walked into the apartment leaving Harry, mouth hanging open, on the balcony alone.
Regaining his composure, Harry ran into the apartment after Draco and called out to him.
"What do you want?" Draco demanded.
"This." He said and kissed Draco softly.
