Yeah, we've been really lucky. Ithaca is normally very overcast, especially during cold weather but lately, and by lately I mean the last couple years, we've had lots of sunny days. I don't know what's up with that but I'll take it!
I was really optimistic moving here; I thought our skies would be clearer than Seattle's in the winter. (Because I'm an avid skywatcher, to me clear skies are important at night as well as during the day.) But noooo, any attempt to look upward is immediately reflected back by (most often) a deluge of falling snowflakes or a raft of low stratus clouds. Oh SIGH.
I remember we did have clear(not to mention butt-cold) days and nights at Oberlin, but that's 40 miles west of here, comfortably outside the Snow Belt.
