Here is an interesting bit of trivia I ran across today:
Beware the McDojo! Some of the links amused me such as:
Are you in a martial arts cult?Real or Fake? And this cracked me up:
Bullshido Make sure you check out the
demotivational posters. Also Bullshido exposing the 'black belt factory' cracked me up. I wish they'd expose
John Clements.

People often look at me when I tell them that I do not pay to train (invited students don't pay any fees), I don't worry about belts (though I hold the rank of go-kyu, my dojo doesn't stress "tests," and we rarely hold them), and we don't do promotional things like advertise or recruit.
That said, there's a reason why my dojo had to find new space, because we only ever manage to break even, so gyms are loathe to take us in (especially when we tell them, "no, your gym membership doesn't get you into jujitsu...you need to be invited to the class"). At least one of my masters is also a professor at my university, so we train regularly on campus.
I hate belt factories. I hate the "Fred Villari" school of advancement-through-tuition.

As I age - and watch others I train with age - the sparring/striking model tends to fade. But those schools of training that are more focused on the "softer" arts, and that spend a good deal of time on body mechanics, are the ticket.
Besides, when I get into old age, my hips will be glad I learned how to fall when I was younger. :)

I'll have to look for that clip, it sounds funny.
In the mean time I need to get a quarter pounder WITH cheese, a McBlackBelt, and a National McTitle in McKungFu.

You see martial arts is tough but extreme martial arts must be extremely tough!
