Replacing headlights

One of the headlights in our '08 Prius has already gone out (???) and we're getting mixed signals from the 'net about replacing it. Is it possible to easily replace it yourself, or do you have to pay the dealer ridiculous amounts of money to have them do it? Is it covered under the warranty?

Headlights are covered to 3 years/36,000 miles. Unfortunately, I'm at 47k miles and both of mine are failing quickly. Replacing them isn't just replacing the bulb, it's the entire assembly, which costs $300 each. That's one of my few complaints about the Prius: they computerized things that didn't need to be computerized. I'd rather have power seats and regular old $20 halogens than the other way around.

This is exactly why I made a rare exception and bought the extended 100K warranty on my Prius.

I've had them replace just bulbs on mine. It should also be in the user manual- it is for the ones I've seen in the show room.

But, as mentioned it should be covered under the waranty. Mine was when a blub blew at 24k miles.
