Is it true?

Someone told me that you can go to the drive-in theatre and leave your ac running. Is it true?

Our drive in theatre has a double feature - would the ac/battery hold up for two movies?

(OT, it there a way to do a search in a particular community? I want to make sure  my questions haven't already been posted.)

As far as I know you have to have the car fully on (not in accessory) to have the A/C running, so if the battery got too low the engine would just kick on.

Thanks, Morgi. How do I tell if the car is fully on, or just in accessory? (I seem to be missing the owner's manual!) I've also heard of Ready mode - I have no idea what that is either.

If you turn it on without stepping on the brake, it's in accessory (you can listen to the radio and some other things, but IIRC the heat/A/C doesn't work, and neither do the windows). It won't drive in this mode. To turn the car fully on you have to depress the brake as you push the power button. It'll beep and light up all the indicators, and you can drive away. If you sit idle for a long time in this mode it'll kick the engine on as it's needed.

If, from accessory mode, you hit the power button a second time without stepping on the brake, it won't go fully on but the windows will work. I have used this feature many times because in good weather I often forget to close the windows when I park in the driveway and have to go back and close them when rain threatens. I also have to hit it twice to get a CD out of the stereo.
