I haven't had any problems on my 07, but I do mostly use the cruise control for highway driving so maybe if there's a problem I'm just not seeing it?
I thought they only recalled some years of the Prius, or was it all of them? Shouldn't I have gotten a notification from my dealership if that's the case?
I saw in some comments on a news website that you can't shift the car into neutral when it is malfunctioning; something to do with the computer chip that controls the car. I don't know, though. I wish Toyota would put out useful info.
If you can't pop it into neutral, how on earth could the floor mat be to blame? If the computer chip detects a malfunction and won't allow the engine to be dropped into neutral, which _can_ occur during normal operation, the issue is obviously within the computer chip. So. Until Toyota admits and fixes the error with the computer chip, their cars should not be trusted.
I have not had a problem with the gas pedal, but I have had the brake issue, repeatedly, even though my model is not under a recall for that.
I spend about 3 hours a day in my car, half of it on winding country roads. I have images of sudden acceleration and going off over a ditch and through cow pastures...

We have had no problems with our '08. I guess it may come in handy that we know how to put the vehicle in "neutral" without outside assistance.

In fact, the biggest annoyance I've had is the O2 sensors going out on me.
But that's about it.

just move the gearshift into neutral.... you then should be able to apply brakes properly, no matter what the engine may be doing
