Most of the time, what you see posted and in public is not Christian and is not practised by most Christians. Most Christians will generally be disgusted by those comments simply because they break the basic fundamental rules Christians are supposed to live by. But hey, don't let the fact that the majority of Christians are nice people who live everyday lives and help people cloud your judgement. I'd hate to see reality get in the way of a good hate-on for a religion. World over, Douchebags are Douchebags, and it doesn't matter what religion/ethos/view they profess because they're Douchebags and that overrides anything else.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I was raised Catholic, and know many very nice Christians. But that doesn't change the fact that I think that, when you boil it down, they're thinking irrationally about a rational world.

I don't have a "hate-on" for religion, as you put it. I simply think that it's a bit silly, and has much more potential for bad than good. Everything good out that comes out of most religion, I can also get out of simply thinking intelligently and behaving as I would want to be treated. I feel, personally, that the bad uses of religion far outweigh the good, is all.

And yes, I totally agree with you that there are douchebags everywhere. Assholes will be assholes, no matter what. Religion just happens to get used as a convenient excuse far too often for my tastes.
