Did you notice the complete absence of alternatives for home heating? Me too. IF all they have to heat with is coal, they'll burn coal, damn the consequences. This is almost certainly why my January has only had 2 rain storms and its clear and almost warm outside. The coal pollution in the Northern Pacific causes heating of a few degrees, which then creates a High Pressure region, which then steers the typical storm-bearing winds away from California. Arizona and Nevada have probably gotten more rain than we have. Hmph. This is shaping up to be another drought year. Thus I am using the water system to keep my landscaping plants alive. And that's not free.

Regardless it seems true that what your world neighbor does has an effect on someplace else. That coal cloud is out there someplace.
