i just passed this car with a bumper sticker that said simply, "I HATE BRENDA." My first instinct was to laugh. My second was to wonder whether I should immediately get some reference to a famous Brenda that everyone should hate. Like, if it said "I HATE NEWT," I would get the political, quasi-universal reference. But Brenda? Does anyone else ( Read more... )

"i hate brenda" was a club during the 90210 era, because so many people hated shannen doherty's character.

aw, see, now i was all into theresa's vision there. i really, really wanted a bumper sticker that said "I HATE [__]." now that vision is ruined. dammit.

you know what? i was going to write that if i had to guess what it was really about i would say something 90210-related, but then for some reason i thought that brenda was a goody-goody, and that everyone really just hated shannen doherty. she was the only brenda i could think of that others would know. well, she and brenda blethyn, but there is just no way anyone could hate her. she's the cutest.
