Director's Cut 12 : Agrabah - Snack Hunt.
The warm, rich smell of baking bread had attracted Larxene to the second-story windowsill not far from where the boys-as she "affectionately" knew them-were hawking their respective wares.
Just a quick detour, she thought to herself as she nimbly scaled the wall. Hell, maybe I'll even be nice, and nick enough to share…
She grinned to herself. And maybe not…
She shimmied her way along the thin ledge to the just-as-thin windowsill, clambering on and wavering for a moment, staring down at the round, brown loaves of freshly-baked, still-warm, delicious bread. Come to mama…
"Augh!" She looked up sharply to see a fat, middle-aged woman clinging to a broom. "A street rat! Get out!"
Oh, nice one, you idiot…
She shifted her weight, reaching out to summon a handful of kunai. No one had told her not to kill anyone, after all…
The broom hit her in the face. With an undignified screech that was only partially muffled by a face-full of bristly straw, she toppled backwards off of the sill, plummeting down the two stories to land with a resounding thump and a large plume of dust.
Something squawked just over her head. There was a sibilant hiss that made her eyes snap open. There were deadly snakes in this country. She'd seen them.
She was greeted with the most bizarre sight she'd ever seen-and she'd seen a lot as a Nobody. Two luminous yellow eyes were set in a green, lizard-like face. The lipless mouth was turned down in something that was almost, but not quite, a frown. The expression was, otherwise, carefully blank. It did not blink.
She didn't either. She held the-thing's-gaze steadily, while she took stock of herself. Nothing was broken, except maybe her pride.
The woman was still shrieking. The thing broke the tableau to stare up at the woman, who was now leaning out the window, preparing to sling an empty jug down at the "street rat". The woman's shrieks were quickly stifled, and she vanished back into her home.
Larxene scrambled to her feet, backing away from the… whatever-it-was. "Thanks." It seemed at least polite to do that much.
The thing blinked at her. The huge bird-thing at its side shifted and made a low whining sound. The thing reached out and patted its beak. "It smells of magic, does it not, Zorus?" Its-his, apparently-voice was low, sibilant, and made the hairs on the back of Larxene's neck stand straight up.
"Uh. Right." For a moment, she considered frying it where it stood, then thought better of it. "Look, I'll forget I saw you if you forget you saw me."
"Do you know where I can find a… genie?" It kept its gaze on her, staring unblinkingly now.
"Haven't a clue," Larxene glanced over her shoulder. "Good luck finding one!" The dual urges to attack and to run away were growing steadily stronger. Something about this guy gave her the creeps. Maybe it was that he was half-snake.
"Hn." It made a low hiss, deep in its throat and turned away. "Come, Zorus. We will search elsewhere. This is no genie."
Larxene stared at the thing's back, then turned and walked quickly-didn't run, she'd never run-back to the others.
Whatever that snake-guy was, she definitely didn't want to meet him again. She preferred friendlier snakes.
Maybe more like Axel.
