Kevin H is a bastard.
Now, get this: he is not my direct boss. In fact, I have no clue who my direct boss is (probably Pat/Jim, heads of company).
But he is head of production. So, since I cross the boundary of Administration/Production, I often consult him on matters.
So, with CJ leaving, his office is opening up.
First, a bit of information:
My current office is a back area of a 'building' inside of the warehouse, next to the Timbersil treatment cylinder. We refer to this as Plant T.
I am crammed into a corner, where I fit a 19" CRT, my laptop, speakers, several binders, a UPS, various extra computer accessories, my laptop back, notes, more notes, and misc crud in a 6'
area. Stacked to the ceiling.
What's better is that there is no AC back here, so right now it's 10 degrees hotter than it is outside, Both doors into the room are open (which bring in wonderful amounts of noise), and it doesn't help.
People constantly come in and out of here, so I'm always being interrupted, bothered (I sit next to a shelf full of their stuff, so they have to keep reaching over me to get to it), and watched.
I hate people watching over my shoulder.
The dust in here is atrocious, I'm talking a 1/4" buildup in a matter of weeks. My nice chair is filthy and even my laptop (which I take home with me every night) has so much dust in it that it's worked its way under the screen.
So, with CJ's office opening up, I'll get to move to a nice, open, Air Conditioned space with a huge desk (and no dust!).
Now, part of me being back here consists of me helping out with misc things sometimes. Emptying water barrels, fetching things.
When I was hired on as full time, one of the things I (reluctantly) agreed to was that I would help out in the plant if things got rough. I've only had to twice, once because I needed propane for the forklifts (I didn't know how to fill them, so I had to fill in for the guy who did) and once for 2 hours on the new stacker.
I dress for work in nice clothing (well, nice for me). Not clothing that I used before (filthy, torn, stained, etc). So, if I'm not expecting to work in the plant, I won't dress in shitty clothing.
Making me very upset when I had to go out there and get my nice clothing dirty.
So, I mentioned to KH that I was moving up to CJ's office. He told me 'cool', but reminded me that I might need to come back and help out if they needed it. (This was yesterday).
I told him I understood, I'd have a phone line in case they needed to reach me.
I expected that to be all.
Then, again today at lunch, KH proceeds to lecture me that, "We're getting rid of the JobsPlus guys, so if we need you, you have to come and help."
He was almost panicking that I might not be able to run down and help them.
Condescending prick.
I asked KW if KH was always like this. He said yes.
Regardless, I'm ready to confront him, tell him that, not only am I a 23-year old Man, I don't want to be treated like a Boy, and I'd better have forewarning if there is a chance that I might have to work in the plant.
None of the secretaries or the receptionist have to work out there. Ever. My job is just as important as them, and I'm just as busy.
Sorry about the rant. Work getting to me.

I was really, really tired this morning. Could barely get out of bed. Massive headache. Upper back/neck are really screwed up (sayeth the Chiro).
I am also so broke I don't get to eat Friday until I get home. Bummer.
But I get paid Friday, and then all my $$$ woes go away.
Sometimes the little things bring you down. Sometimes they bring you up.
