Managed to make it through Day 1 on the right track. Now... Day 2!

Operation: Yoga Ball is going... really interestingly. I borrowed a giant yoga ball from a coworker to sit on at the office. Within 10 minutes, I could feel all the muscles in my lower back activate. I was so very achy that night! Good ache, though -- the kind like after you've worked your muscles but not strained them, or done something decidedly ( Read more... )

Oooh! I am interested in this yoga bal experiment. I have been wanting to get one for my desk for *ages* but our Very Corporate Building has rules about what you can and cannot bring in to use since we apparently have a big contract with some office furniture company...

Anyway, I saw one at a coworker's desk and asked my manager about it and she said to just bring one in! Hurray! I have yet to acquire one, though.

I definitely advocate asking the coworker if you can borrow it for a day, or even a few hours, to try before you buy. It's certainly not what I expected -- I love it! -- but the experience is different than I expected.

They're also I think like $50-80, so a chunk of change.

See if you can bribe the coworker for a trial.

I didn't add, btw, that sitting on it is also totally FUN! I find myself bouncing, wiggling, and "butt dancing" all day long. I really like it!

I've been really wanting one. A couple of people have them around the office, and I really like them. So I've been enjoying the saga of the yoga ball greatly :-)

I decided to check Amazon since I have free shipping with my Prime membership, and I found a 75cm ball (the largest size) for $21.73!

That was a much better prize than I expected!

I can definitely stand to loose weight. The most successful diet is the Atkin's diet for me. I lost 40 pounds on it. Do you go to weight watchers meeting? I tried weight watchers but the slow weight loss made me disheartened. With Atkins you loose about 5-8 pounds a week. But, since you have had so much success on it, I might give it a try.

Do you keep a food diary or calculator for calories?

I like Weight Watchers because I don't want to go completely obsessively bonkers -- and I'm very prone to obsessive behavior, so I have to be careful about that. I want to make slight, easy, manageable changes which I can sustain at least in part, so the 1-3 pounds a week loss is great. I mean, if I lost even 1 pound for a whole year, that's 52 pounds! (Of course I don't think that's realistic -- but still.)

I don't go to meetings; I only do the online program. I'm not motivated by accountability, so I'd view the meetings simply as an inconvenience to me. The online system works well for me because it allows me to plan ahead, and work with my strength which is organization. If I had to go to meetings, I'd consider it a dreadful obligation, and I know I'd hate it! ;)
